I'm still thinking it's the Mardi Gras, just looked it up on Google, and there are lots of meantions of beads, seem to remember someone making a bit thing about beads on dresses in the first thread. The location should be about right as well

Is it something sporting - like you said curve ball and pad - well they wear pads in NFL. Is it something to do with the colours of NFL teams (although can't for the life of me think an NFL team would play in pink!!!)
