When I have done this I used versamark embossing pad and coloured embossing powders... I applied a second coating of powder whilst the first was still hot and then heated again... Have had no problem with these products or the technique

    Good luck

I've done it before using versa ink too and had no problem. I don't have any stazon or brilliance, are they dye or pigment inks?

It's the Stazon that's the problem - way too fast drying to act as a glue for the powder.....If you wana colour the brad with the Stazon inkpad , use glue pen or versamark over it to act as the 'holder' for the powder. Brilliance will work too, and bonus it's coloured, and bonus it's a fast drying pigment which means you don't have to emboss it and you can heat or leave to dry as you wish! ( my Brilliance!! )

Someone (can't remember who) suggested to me to heat the brad then dip it in the embossing powder then heat again - that worked! don't know if that's the effect you're going for though

    eta thanks Lucy!!

mine all look lovely..I just wipe across any inkpad..but not the chalkie ones..dip in pot of powder..heat, re dip whilst hot and heat again...some powders arent as good tho...dont forget to use tweezers to hole the 'legs ' tho...ouch!

i think sarahscards has a LO in her gallery for kirstys challenge using some I sent her...been doing them by the truck load at the mo for swaps etc...and get the cheap ones from WHSmith and other stationers..

was just about to add that stazon is too fast drying but julia has pointed that out...

i sometimes find I put them down too quick and they stick to the paper/cover etc if they are still hot and wet..

good luck...the end result if worth it!!!and so cheap!

juliadunit can you run through the Brilliance method as I have a lot of these ink pads. I have always used nail varnish in the past.
