Knew i had read something somewhere about the USB Port!!
Just found this on the cricut website:
"USB Port The USB port is on the machine for two reasons. The first is that it can be used for downloading future software updates that govern the machine's operations.
The second reason is that we have plans to make the Cricut™ compatible with a computer and take advantage of its strengths. However, the details of how, when, and what this will be aren't known quite yet.
Keep an eye on the website and sign up for the newsletter. We'll have more information through that forum when the time comes."
So in theory the current machine will at some point hook up to a PC
Aah.......now that really IS interesting !
That got me thinking to another post I had seen on the cricut community thread posted by the administrators etc which kind of supports that quote you found but at the same time leaves a big question mark IYGWIM! ;)

welcome Ginny - this is quite a new thread, you may want to dig out the previous one which closed at 500 posts!!
Have just read through, quite a marathon! Love the covers.
Got mine last week thanks to Prize draw on Crafter's cove. Have played with it a bit and am so impressed - have told hubby what he has to get me for birthday's etc from now on!!!
Which cartridges do you all tend to get the most use from - I love the look of all of them!!!
Fiona
wow, lucky you - a free one!!!
I love opposites attract, there are a couple of LOs in my gallery using it, it seems to contain 3 or 4 different fonts, due to the number of ways you can cut each letter.
Gorgeous cover Tracy, he looks very snug. She's a clever lady, sooooooooo looking forward to getting my pink one.
My bugs all warm and cosy now!!
Thanks to Lisa, who made a lovely cosy pink cover for her. It just arrived today!!She's (the bug, not Lisa!) so proud to be wearing it and showing it off to all!!
Sorry, clapped out computer no pictures, but its just like Tracey has for her Jiminy, but it pink.
Thanks Lisa!!!!

Has anyone had any problems with their Cricut? Mine arrived Monday and have been playing and playing with the differents settings but it keeps ripping the paper as if its dragging it. I haven't had a clean cut yet. Its normal 12 x12 scrapbooking paper that I am cutting down. I have emailed Provocraft but not had a reply yet. Maybe there is a simple answer?
what paper are you using hun?Quote:

is the blade in properly?
have you adjusted the settings, ie blade pressure and depth - if it is normal paper (ie not card) you can probably go for 3 on the blade depth and 3 on the pressure (bottom dial) but you may want to slow down the cut to 4 or 5,(top dial), if it cuts too fast on thinner paper it can drag it a bit - it takes a bit of fine tuning, but you get to know as you go along.
let us know if it helps
PAPER - I am using one of the Slab series from the USA (Slab 5 I think), will check on the blade. I have read somewhere that some blades are blunt when they are sent from the factory. Its a bit (!!) frustrating.
lightweight paper (papermania, rob & bob etc) I cut on pressure 3, bazzill I cut on 5. If it is a lightweight paper the mat might be too sticky, they seem to work better on a not very sticky mat so I've kept the original one for these type of papers. Also the blade might not be in properly, is quite tricky when you first put it in.
Hope this helps. Shout if you're still having problems and dont give up, once you've worked it out you will love it.
Ooooh your cover is gorgeous. I have ordered a pink one too - she is a clever cookie isn't she?
I'm still using the original blade and not showing any signs of wear yet (fingers crossed). Could be the blade, undo the screw completely and put the blade in again then tighten it up - is a bit tricky. I'm sure mine was like that when I first had a play.
I didn't realise that you could get covers for them - where from?
I like the look of the bag - but £80 is a lot when I've just bought the machine.
UKS lady Mrs007bond - she is making them all herself, check out her blog for price etc.Quote:
