Morning ladies. Having spent most of the last two days re-arranging my stash I thought it was about time I actually did some crafting.. so tomorrow my plan is for a new card for my ex-sister in laws 70th birthday. Lets hope I get to stick to my plan! I also have a couple of Dt projects to tackle too.
Well, I hope your plans work out Elaine, mine rarely do.
I have been looking for a card 5x7 upright, I think it is such a lovely shape card. Well, by a stroke of luck I needed a 7x7 card and had some Hunkydory A3 card stock and when I cut it down it left me with the perfect size offcut for my 5x7 card, can you believe it! Just have to figure out what I am going to do with it now. Obviously the 7x7 is just shy of that to fit in the envelope which is how I got my extra piece. Wow, it doesn't take much to make me happy does it.
That would make me happy too:)
I usually end up cutting bigger cards down, and then keeping the
scraps hoping to use them latter. I have hundreds of scraps
Ellie
Me too Ellie, I have boxes of scraps in all shapes and sizes.
Just had a go with my white ink pad mentioned on the other thread I think and still not happy. It looks a bit like chalk on blackboard which would be nice if that was the effect I was going for but it's not, I want crisp and clean. I have stamped it 6 times now, thank goodness for the precision press, so now it is either the card or the ink. It's the Brilliance Archival Moonlight White pigment ink pad by Tsukineko who make Versafine I think. Any tips ladies???:)
Oh Susie, I wish you had said before.
I have the same one. I’ve tried it on all different card, and like you
I find that it’s not crisp ,it’s just chalky, and looks smudgy.
I have given up with it!!!!! Sorry.
Ellie
Never mind Ellie, it's nice to know I am not doing something wrong. So what would be a good white ink pad to use as I've just gone back to printing what I wanted instead?
Oh thanks, that's good to know.
Ellie
I tried stamping with white too in the past, without much success, white pens are not much better !
Thanks for the info scrapmate, maybe i’ll give it a try again sometime
Maybe I'll stick to printing in white for now. I Googled reviews on the ink pads and some people said they stamped bright white and others said it was opaque and that's for the same ink pad, very strange. Thanks for the help anyway scrapmate, perhaps Sarah can tell us what the Stampin' Up one is like.
I've just opened my birthday cards and thank you so much Ellie and everyone for the beautiful card. Oh Ellie it made me laugh when I saw it, hubby just loved it too. So thoughtful. I've taken a photo but it doesn't do it justice so I will take another tomorrow.
Happy Birthday Susie.
Glad you like the card. It’s what I thought your boys would look like before
being groomed
Have a lovely day today..
Ellie
Happy Birthday Susie
Ellie, our boys never look that good! Just off out to eat now, thanks once again to everyone for the kind birthday wishes and card, I love the laser cut frame too Ellie.
Happy birthday Susie! Looking forward to seeing the card now. Xx
I don't rate the White SU one..it's very wet and smudgy. It's the only white pad I've ever bought and I'm not going to bother again.. I usually find a way round it.
Thanks Elaine. Interesting to know that you are not happy with the Stampin' Up white ink pad. I found another small white one which I already had  Cloud White by Versa magic and I'm not impressed with that either. I do prefer a crisp stamped image.
Despite best intentions I didn't get to make my ex SIL a card after all.. So nothing to show here.
I’ve made ne, but the lights not very good at the moment, it’s raining!!
So will try a photo later.
Ellie
Here it is. I used a new die I bought last week, and a new stamp for the lettering.
Ellie
Beautfiul card, beautiful die and beautiful stamp too. Tell me the makes or else Ellie! Oh and beautiful paper!
I managed to get a photo of your gorgeous card Ellie before I lost the light again today. I love the way you used the laser cut frame after I commented on them. Thanks again ladies.:)

That’s a nice photo Susie. Glad you liked it. I showed it to DH and he liked it, so I
knew it would be ok. He will say if he doesn’t like anything.!
Can’t you tell that I like that backing card:lol:
It’s Anne Marie designs, called Blissful Teal.
The die is from Crafters Companion, and the stamp was a freebie from a mag.
If I can find the mag I’ll see if it says what make it is.....
Ellie.
Those cards are lovely Ellie :-)
Wendy
Thank you Wendy
Ellie
Lovely cards Ellie, that paper is gorgeous, I love it, as you know I have a couple of sheets too
More than a couple I suspect Alison. Like me
Ellie
It is such a gorgeous paper Ellie I can understand why you like it, must keep an eye out. That was a lovely freebie stamp to get and I love the flourish die, was it cut from the same paper, it is so pretty? Can you buy the paper separately or do you have to buy the whole pad?
I forgot to tell you my great nephew sent me a birthday card. It was a bought card, his mummy has been too poorly to get him to do hand made, but he asked to do it and wrote it himself and on one side there are flowers and he put a circle of kisses round them. I can't tell you (but you'll know anyway) how touched I was to receive it. Yesterday his grandad was helping make a balsa wood aeroplane and he rang me to wish me a happy birthday and said "I am having a great time on your birthday". He's so funny and so sweet. I am just glad someone is helping him with his artistic side. Funnily enough, his mummy was always designing jewellery when she was young.
Oh how sweet :)
Susie, I bought 3 pads of that paper in slightly different colour ways ! I can send you a few sheets x
Aww, I bet that just touched your heart Susie. Such a thoughtful gt nephew.:)
I think you have to buy the whole pad, but there are some lovely designs within it.
It’s called Blissfull , and if you go on her page, I know she’s doing a special. A 12 x 12 pad
for £6.00, in different colours. I think that’s very good value.
She is very talented, and I think right up your street ,because she does lots of lovely
flowers. Go onto AnnaMarie Designs.co.uk to see her work and shop.
I’ve got 3 small pads, if you want a sample let me know.
Ellie
Didn’t see your post Alison. Great minds think alike!!!
Ellie
Forgot to say Susie. The flourish was cut from a scrap of white card, and
then I just coloured it with pink and green ink pads, and added a bit of sparkle to
some of the leaves.
Ellie
Thank you both for your kind offer, you're so sweet. At that price I'll just buy some and if I don't use any of the sheets I'll pass them on to you. The flourish Ellie looked as though it was made from that card stock and glittered, you made such a lovely job of it and the colours matched perfectly.
I have to get card making but I have just knitted half of a bolero. Ifonly I could cut myself in half and leave part of me cardmaking and the other part knitting it would be great or better still I could do with being cloned.:)
I had a look at her site Ellie but I think the teal is such a pretty set, it reminds me of one of the Kaisercraft papers too. A bit like a less distressed High Tea perhaps, would that be right?
Yes, you would be right Susie.
Perhaps that’s why I’m attracted to it
I think she is sometimes on one of the craft channels as well.
I found the mag with the free stamps, but it doesn’t say who made them unfortunately.
Ellie
Which magazine was it Ellie, that is just the sort of stamp I am looking for, pretty word stamps. It's stamped perfectly too.
I have quite a few word stamps Susie I keep intending to use when I do if any you like can stamp for you
Love your card Ellie the paper's and the scallop stitch die
Nice sentiment freebie stamp too
