Ah, but you see I have both and until I've used up some of the many 12x12 papers I already have, I really shouldn't be buying more. I will buy a few that take my fancy now I'm making this wedding album but I have 2 - 15 tier drawers full of scrapbook papers plus lots of 12x12 pads. I've probably got more scrapbook papers than the craft centre I go to, everything from Brenda Walton, K&Co, Anna Griffin, s.e.i., Bo Bunny, Kaisercraft, creative imaginations, Papermania. I have some gorgeous Doodlebug and Rahyer designs the list goes on and on. The good thing is the wedding album is making me use some of the beautiful wedding ones which I bought for our album that I've never made, however, you can't buy those papers now.
I still love printing though, especially pretty floral designs and as I go round craft shops and see what is available it often reminds me that I have something very similar at home. The only stash I've bought of late is the wedding papers and a couple of the High Tea, because they are pretty, pretty, pretty.:)
So I guess what I'm saying is, there's room for both buying and printing your own. At present I'm trying to persuade hubby to let me have the rear bedroom so I can have a stunning craft room like Elaine has. Fat chance.

Ellie
-
I was beginning to get worried about you Denise, glad you're back as Ellie said.
Both lovely cards and you are so right, amazing what you can achieve when you're not nattering on here, but then we'd miss our fun, wouldn't we.:)
-
So true Susie
I've been busy die cutting so haven't made any more cards , but
will get round to it soon.
Ellie
-
Some gorgeous cards here..love the anniversary one Susie.
I made one the other day then was in such a rush to go to the party I forgot to take a photo of it..you'll just have to take my word for it! Lol
Sorry I'm so absent ATM..once summer is over I am sure I'll be back with a vengeance.
-
I have a funny male birthday card to make (it's expected) and a female one but I want to get my die cutting done first.
Thanks Elaine, I think I may make another one in a different colour to have in when I suddenly realise I need one. Don't you hate it when you have given or posted a card and not taken a photo.
I think summer is such a busy time for lots of reasons. For us it isn't holidays, like you lucky bunch but we do a lot of gardening and even walking the dogs takes time, especially as when we get back we need a little rest. Hah and I'm doing the Memory Walk in October, this should be interesting, they'll probably have to send an ambulance to get me home.
-
Susie so many does it's like looking in a sweetshop window
I will send a list of mine but I have champagne glasses they might be useful for your wedding album and I have some rings that look like sleeper earrings that are pretty to will send you some of you like
I just downloaded another law child book so I bet my scrapping come to a holt!!!
Ellie I need your email addy
My sizzex dies would be the best to swap as the cut puts in one piece the sizzlets are in several teeny pieces and you have to build up the cutout and some of the pieces are teeny
Alison if you would like it anyone specific words for titles and cards and colours I have 4 different alphabets let me know

How's the book going Denise ?
Here's a card I had to make last night, husband of one of our staff just passed away.
I thought I'd stamp for a change, I now have blue fingers as I'm a messy stamper ! I am also going to invest in one of those tools for keeping stamps straight so I can stamp again if it doesn't work perfectly first time !

That's beautiful Alison.
Just the right amount of sentiment ,as well.

That is a stunning card Alison, perfect in every way. Sorry it is for such a sad time but that design is so beautiful it could be used for happier occasions too.
-
Oh such lovely cards ladies! Great to see these blues coming to life and yay Alison for some navy tones. :D
Once you have a stamp positioner there'll be no stopping you! I have the MISTI but received it as a gift for Christmas and it was ordered in the Black Friday offers from the manufacturer so at a good discount but still very expensive. But I wouldn't be without it and I stamp almost exclusively with it, just use my blocks for smaller stamps and to add accents here and there.
My friend Sharon recently did a Youtube video of the various positioners on the market and she rather liked the Press to Impress as a more cost-effective alternative. Here's a link to her video.
-
Thanks ladies :)
Thanks for the link Nat. I was looking on Amazon, they have the wrmk one and the craft too stamp to impress, wondered about trying them, or may wait for Christmas and get the Misti, I'll watch the video.....
-
Am I going a bit mad here Nat, I can't see a link. I'm interested in this because I am not very good at stamping, rather hit and miss with me so anything that helps would be great as I have a ton of stamps which rarely get used.
-
Lovely card Alison just right
I think I could do with a stamp positioner too :o
-
Funnily enough I was trying to stamp a solid stamp which had a sentiment yesterday and after failing to get a clean impression decided to try my homemade hinged stamp positioner (made with a DVD case). It was great because it enabled me to restamp several times until I got the solid colour I wanted. I have an old L shaped stamp positioner which I use a lot but I don't think I would have been able to stamp as accurately with that.
Thanks for the link to the video Nat, it was very interesting and at a price point of @£20 the Crafts Too one looks very good.
Lovely cards ladies.
-
Susie, just click on the word LINK, that does it.
Interesting video.
Ellie
-
Thanks Ellie, silly me, usually links are in a different colour. Never mind, off to watch the video now.

Fabulous card Ellie - just love it!
-
Oh yes, I remember the L-shaped positioner. I had a SU stamp positioner for wood mounted stamps but it was just such a faff to do and I only have a few wood mounted stamps that I rarely use now as things are just so much quicker and easier with clear stamps.
One of the best purchases I made to go with my Misti was a pack of assorted quilter's plastic templates from amazon. It had 4 gridded sheets in it and one I cut to a 5x7 card and another to just 6x4 and I will eventually do a US A2 format template, but the ones I cut do me just fine for those. From the clear plastic sheet in the set I've cut one the size of the foam pad in the misti so I have a wipeable surface protecting the grid paper inside my Misti. These grid templates are the foolproof way for getting greetings lined up perfectly and I think Sharon has been doing the same and shows it in her video if I recall.
It's funny how much these positioners have really revolutionized stamping for crafters - I know it didn't originally start with the Misti and you can do your own DIY versions and now we are lucky to have a good choice of options and price points on the market but having started with the Misti I've not looked back, that one just happened to be what was available at the time and I've really enjoyed using it.
It's also saved the odd project being able to go back in and restamp when an impression hasn't come out fully. :)
Another thing that has really made a difference for my stamping is having the Lawn Fawn stamp shammy to clean my stamps. I used to have to periodically scrub them clean in the bathroom sink as using baby wipes (even good quality non-linty ones) and a stamp scrubber still left them a bit unclean over time. But the stamp shammy really cleans them up nicely and you just need to wet it with water to do the job. I think you can get the same results cutting up a shammy from the car care aisle, but again this just happened to be on my wishlist and I got it. I only use baby wipes on stamps to get high staining ink off first before cleaning with the shammy, so versafine or Hero Arts ink, I wipe off with a baby wipe first and then clean with the shammy and it's perfect. Same with Distress Oxide inks. You'll always get inks that stain your stamps, but with the shammy it will clean loads of stamps before you need to go rinse it out and it cuts down on the amount of cleaner/babywipes I get through. :)
Anyway, that's it for my enabling today. ;) Going to go to my craft desk and put that into practice.
But before I do, that's a lovely take on the prompt Ellie! Really like the texture of the background. :D
-
Lovely card Ellie, have you coloured that background yourself?
Nat, thanks for all the tips, and enabling :). I need something to clean me, I always get ink over my hands then manage to smudge it somewhere on my project !
-
Thanks Alison.
Yes I sprayed it with blue mist, then embossed it, and
then rubbed a silver stamp over some of it.
Mounted it on silver card so it showed through the die holes.
Ellie

Love your card Ellie
Thanks for all the tips Nat

I know this isn't the right colour, but I wanted to
show you this card. I made it for my friend ,who's
had a slight heart attack, and is in hospital.
I used one of Susies die cuts.
Ellie
-
Lovely card Ellie, is that a touch of Kaisercraft sneaking in or am I wrong? I've made a sympathy card but it is a printed one, in the hope that I won't be needing it. I find when I have sympathy cards made I don't need them, at least for quite a while. But the moment I don't have one in, I need one.
Nice that you could use the little Spellbinders die cut.
I do hope your friend makes a full and speedy recovery.x
-
Yes, you are correct, it's High Tea again.
She loves her cup of tea.
Yes thanks, she's ok. She lives in Windermere, and the nearest
heart hospital is in Blackpool, so they sent an air ambulance for her, and
she was in hospital 21mins later... Amazing job!
She had a stent fitted that afternoon and was sitting up in bed later
in the evening. A very lucky lady.

That is amazing, what a fantastic service, we are so lucky in this country to have the care we do, no wonder our NHS is the envy of the rest of the world.

This is the heart embossing folder and stamp, I mentioned Susie.
You can't see the little blue stones in the small flowers on the heart, very well.
I haven't put it onto card yet, because I have to order some.
There is a little bit of blue on it, I think it fits the challenge.
Ellie
-
That's such a pretty card Ellie both of them I like the die cut too
Doesn't the white look stunning with the blue
Hope your friend is feeling much better too
-
OMG as the kids say, that is stunning Ellie. When are we having an embossing swap, can we, can we, can we, please mum!
Which embossing folder is it and which stamp, does it come as a set? How did you get your stamping so crisp?
-
I only have a couple of embossing folders one of which is Christmas words
-
I've got a Christmas words one too Denise
Ellie
-
Lovely cards Ellie. That embossing is gorgeous.
:lol:Susie, yes of course we can have a embossing swap, can I finish my die cuts first !!
I've got some embossing folders, not sure how card related they are, will have to check them out.
I've made a birthday card, using navy again, just waiting for it to appear on my iPad :)

Love your card Alison.
Really like the colour combo and background paper.
DH I'll love it.

Oooh love that card Alison. Those stars are so nice, I wish I had stars like those. I love the dotty paper, whose is it please? Such a great guy card, I am so bad at them, I really love that and it fits just about any age. Can I lift it please?:D
I have about 30 embossing folders, I love having embossed backgrounds. Sometimes, when a card looks flat all it needs is a bit of embossing. I have A4 designs which are useful for cutting for large cards, I have a variety of smaller in a variety of designs, Christmas, floral, butterflies etc... and also some border embossing folders. Better get more white card stock!
Denise, don't buy any more until you see what the rest of us have got, unless of course you just want an excuse to buy stash.:)
-
Thanks for the card comments. It's based on a card design I found several times on Pinterest so 'lift away ' !
Your stars are nearly ready, just need to do your hexagons
I did buy a Winnie the Pooh embossing folder the other day, haven't tried it yet :)
