I emailed Silhouette America about this last night. They say the deep cut blade is just for the curio. I was hoping it would work with the cameo. x

Thank you for letting us know Chris, i'm sure other's would have wondered about that too
Thank you for letting us know about the deep cut blade Chris. Sorry for not replying sooner.
Joan.
I've been doing a bit more marquetry with the Curio, so thought I would share my latest work. For anyone thinking of trying a bit of marquetry: the Curio works very well but be advised that it is very advanced stuff (probably the trickest stuff I've done on the Silhouette machines), it takes a lot of trial and error, it also obviously helps if you have some woodworking skills but if you take your time and do multiple passes you can do some very cool stuff, like this below:

The design above is cut from oak, sycamore, teak and birds eye maple. I just need to glue this and varnish it, I'll share a pic once it is all done.
It's beautiful Brian well done to you. I know you're an expert but your pictures do give encouragement to all of us as to what can be done
Wow!!! Brian it is fabulous. Thanks for showing what can be acheived with the Curio.
My Curio arrived just before we came away on our extended bank holiday. I have to wait until we are home Monday before I can play with it.
I'm putting a little video together with some tips for using the Curio for marquetry, I'll link it once it is complete.
This is another sample I created, this is a mahogany frame with anigre inlaid text.

They all look wonderful Brian
All beautiful Brian. Looking forward to the video.
Stunning examples. Had no idea that you could do this with the Curio. Thanks for sharing.
I finally finished the video I've been working on. It is not really a tutorial but I do provide some helpful hints & tips which should help others avoid some of the problems I ran in to.

Thank you Brian I'm off to have a look
Thank you Brian, looks amazing.
Very informative video thank you Brian
Just a quick heads up to the Curio owners here, Silhouette have released an updated firmware for the Curio, this takes the firmware from v1.08 to v1.20, so it should contain a few fixes & optimisations. You can find the firmware at the link below, the firmware upgrader provides clear & simple instructions but let me know if you have any questions, I've just done the update here and it all went smooth & only took a couple of minutes. Just make sure you close Studio before running the firmware installer.

Thank you Brian. Busy this morning so will give it a go after lunch.
Thank you Brian
This was more complex than I remember. Firstly you need to extract the files from the downloaded folder. next you need to make sure that the curio platform is in place when you power up and link to your computer with the USB. At one stage you have to remove the power cable then hold the on button in for 5 seconds until it begins to flash. As I had made the mistake of putting my curio on the floor rather than a table I failed the first time. Second attempt I put it on my knee and could see the screen and press the right buttons.
Thanks Brian - all up and running.
I've been having a play with the new etching sheets today and you can get some nice effects with them, the etched text has a very nice sparkle to it.

Wow that looks great thanks for showing us Brian
Wow is all i can say. Thanks for sharing.
A bit more Curio work today, this time I was cutting leather and testing etching tools, so knocked myself together a handmade leather keyring. Not bad for first attempt. :)

It looks great Brian, is that real leather or the faux leather that Graphtec sell on a roll?
That is real leather, we have been testing the deep cut blade, and that was cut at a blade setting of 13.
Looks great Brian
Thanks Brian
