Font of the Week

This is a nifty little dingbat font of gates and fences .  I would guess that the stone and brick bits would not cut well on a Cricut or Craft Robo (and even if it did, attaching all the tiny bits would drive you MAD) but the plain slat fences and some of the stonework ones should do fine.  They could be used for masks, as well as cut items, so you would get good use out of both the cut shape and the surround. Plus it's darn cute just printed.

a CD-rom product for Windows by Little Big Tree
£14.99 + P&P

UKS welcomes a new sponsor with a new product. Little BigTree is debuting a cd-rom product that quickly and easily allows you to print flowers and butterflies suitable for all your scrapbooking and card projects. I had a chance to test out this product and can see the potential in it.

It is a simple process - you pop the CD into the drive, install it, and you are up and running. A series of drop down menus allow you to select what sort of image you want to print. After choosing the category ( there are photo-realistic flowers and butterflies, leaves and extras, which are rocks/pebbles, and I am particularly fond of the sketch plain options, which prints something that looks like a stamped image) you can customize the size, clour, colour stauration, contrast, you name it, with a quick click of the sliders. I loved the black sketch images on pattened paper for lovely custom flowers, or colourized and printed on white paper. The photo-realistic images can be printed on photo paper as well, to cut out for amazingly rich looking embellishments. There are also plain sketch images with patterns for a totally different look.

The Build-a bundles allow you to print the item in pieces - particularly good for the butterflies - which I expect will delight decoupage artists, as you can print as many as you like and layer them.

In an effort to maximise the use of paper, when you open an image you get a full line of flowers, leaves, etc., with the idea you can then print them and save them for later, when you need a quick embellishment or to make a fast card, but I think personally I would prefer to add a single item if I prefered. That is a tiny small complaint on what is otherwise a very nice product.

The cd is Windows compatible only, and the ancient old PC I allow in my house strictly for the purposes of running the Craft Robo ran it perfectly - I am running Windows 2000 on that and that or Windows XP are the requirements. They are working on a Mac version for next year.

There are planned additions to the existing product which you should be able to download and add in the future. Good news for digi-scrappers is that they are looking at a product for you as well.

There is a Flash video tutorial on the site, which walks you through the process, and it gives you a nice preview of the items available in the product. Check it out!

A NEW WAY TO EMBELLISH YOUR LAYOUTS AND CARDS USING YOUR PC

Software designed for scrapbookers, card makers and crafters creates flowers and butterflies on demand, in any desired colour or shade…

A new CD-Rom created by Little Big Tree, called ‘Wings and Flowers’ is being launched on December 1st 2006.

The software, which operates on Windows based PCs, provides hundreds of flower and butterfly images to be used as embellishments in all kinds of crafts. The user can change the colour, contrast and size of each embellishment using a set of easy-to-use controls. Each choice is displayed as it would appear when printed on a piece of paper. Once the user has refined each of their chosen embellishments, they only need to print, cut and add them to their scrapbook layout, greeting card, ATC or other craft project.

Little Big Tree consists of Tim Venison and Kris Avery who developed the idea, artwork and software. They have been friends for nearly 20 years, and had been looking for a project to work on together for some time.
Work on Wings and Flowers began almost a year ago, with the idea inspired by Kris’ family. Both his sister and mother are scrapbooking fanatics, and through seeing their card and layout designs, the idea quickly took form.

Little Big Tree was formed in 2006 to provide customers with easy to use software for the purpose of printing embellishments for art and craft.

If you would like more information about Wings and Flowers, or wish to schedule an interview with Kris Avery or Tim Venison at Little Big Tree, please call Kris on +44 (0)1922 867 443, or email kris@littlebigtree.com.
