Font of the Week

I do love Chank fonts .  There are some nice freebies here, some of which have been FOTW in the past, but Millesime is so nice, useable and just a little bit textural.  He calls it "vintage French" and also reccomends a couple of other ones.  SchwingShift is still free so grab that too, if you like it!

May 08 Week 2 Team Challenge by The Doodlebugs

ImageHello, welcome to the Doodlebugs' weekly challenge. Our team have decided to take things back to basics and just focus on things we love to use.

So we would like you base your layout on the attached sketch - 10 points

We all love using stamps now and again, so incorporate stamping in your layout - 5 points

As it's May, we decided to indulge our love of ribbons. So get creative with your ribbons - 5 points

And finally, as we are the DOODLEbugs, we couldn't leave out doodling!!! - 10 points

May 08 Photography Contest

ImageHi there and welcome to the May 2008 Photo Competition, Ribbon Oasis are hosting the competition for May and June and there will be a lovely Ribbon prize for the winner each month.

As spring is now officially under way it got me thinking about what we sometimes do at this time of year - Spring Cleaning! Arggghhh I hear you say ....... but, there is often a great outcome to this activity in that we get "organised" - if your scrap space is anything like mine though it doesn't stay organised for very long!

The theme for this month is

ORGANISED

whether it be your scrap stash, items in your home or how nature often organises things "just so"

Hopefully you will have lots of FUN conveying "organised" into a great photo

Hats off by Alexa

ImageGreat simple layout, which really focuses on the photos and the story.  The rolled edge paper is a nice touch and that photo of the building with it's bobble hat on is so darn cute!  Love the journaling too, but wish for a supplies list!  Those letters are adorable and inquiring minds may want to know who makes them!

Rickles

Image

Fontdiner always has cute fonts.  Love Rickles , although a little frustrated that the decenders (like the lower case p in the example above) looks nothing like the sample.  LMK if you download it and it works for you - could be a Mac thing!

When less is more - or is it ?

ImageMole’s Musing

Sometimes, when I survey the mess that is my craft-room desk (well, all right, the whole craft-room too LOL) I feel a little guilty that I’ve all these lovely bits and pieces and embellishments, but I haven’t used them on my layout.

All those blossoms, buttons and brads, the clips and cut-outs, the alphas and the arrows, the raffia, rub-ons and ribbons …. all that STUFF that I’ve accumulated over time …. shouldn’t it be on my page?

Some people seem to be able to cram loads of things onto their pages and it just looks ‘right’. But nine times out of ten, when I set out to produce a page, in spite of my good intentions at the start to use More Stuff, I don’t quite seem to manage it. Sometimes, I reason, this is because I have been sensible – I’ve arrived at a ‘look’ for my page which is balanced and uncluttered. It’s good to know when enough is enough.

Other times, I decide my page is finished, but I wish, deep down, that I’d been a bit more adventurous and made use of some of the undoubtedly fabby items I’ve begged/borrowed/bought over the years. I know less is supposed to be more, but aren’t there times, too, when more is more, and not too much?

I love some of the simple, clean pages I’ve seen posted in the gallery but I gaze longingly, too, at some of the ones that are simply bursting with embellishments.

Maybe I just have to accept that I’m a ‘clean lines’ girl at heart and that if that’s where my natural inclinations seem to lie, why worry. After all, if I want my boundaries pushing, and want to be ‘made’ to play with all those goodies, isn’t that what workshops and classes are for?

Cybercrop, anyone?
