Update on SCAL and Provocraft
SCAL2, the die cutting software I use 95% of the time with my Cricut Machine, has been removed from the Craft Edge website and will no longer be sold. If you have SCAL2 or SCAL already you are OK, the software will continue to work just fine and you will not be tricked into updating scal and losing your ability to cut with your Cricut. Craft Edge will continue to support the software until the end of the year. However you won't want to update any ProvoCraft Cricut software or they may block you SCAL or MTC and then you will be up the proverbial river.
You can read her full article here
And on the Craft Edge Website:
Version 3: Compatible with Craftwell eCraft™, BlackCat Cougar/Lynx™, BossKut Gazelle™, Pazzles Inspiration™, Silhouette SD™, USCutter™, and CraftROBO/Graphtec™. (Cricut ™ is not supported)

Sure Cuts A Lot v3
Important: This version will not work with the Cricut, but supports a variety of other cutters including ( Craftwell eCraft, BossKut Gazelle, Pazzles Inspiration, USCutter, Silhouette SD)
I just read this for this software I didn't realise the version 3 was now not cutting to Cricut.. when did this come about?

Think Provocraft just bullied SCAL and obviously SCAL dont have the money for court cases like provocraft do.......
I wouldn't mind but I have over 50 cartridges for my expression but I cannot use my design studio on my mac..... so without SCAL what am I to do...?

I do think personally it's all wrong, people buy these sort of things for their own use and by stopping them from making their own designs is beyond me..
I did have a cricut but sold it before all this software came out I didn't really want to be tied to what I can do with carts..
You can still use it if you don't upgrade from what I read

I must admit after getting my silhouette out of the cupboard just after Christmas I have been using it more and more instead of the expression....

well Provocraft will probably expect you to splash out on a gypsy
But yes as long as you don't update your firmware then it would still work with the one you have.

Pc are so silly as all other machines have embraced new software to make them user friendly.. they will loose out in the end ..........People just won't buy the carts or the machines.

Check out that link and a new bit of software called FairyCut - who knows how long it might stay available? Useless to me with a Mac as it is Windows only, but the print&cut stuff sounds interesting.

Yep MaryAnne, I am quite fancying Fairycut for myself now.

i think Provocraft have made a big mistake this will not get people to buy more carts from them.
i was interested in this post MaryAnne as i have a pazzles inspiration and i will be able to use it on my mac now with this software.
