    Scrapbooking - what's trending?

I have seen many layouts using stencils and there is a lot of mention about the jelli plate, so I am wondering what is trending right now. I like to keep up with the Jones, Smiths, Jenkins etc...

    What is your latest buy?

I do what I love and I love what I do.

Have to agree - when I try paint washes etc it ends up looking a mess, and most of the colours are 'grungy', I'm loving pastels at the moment.

PL cards, chevrons and polaroid frames are my faves at the moments,

Got to say I'm loving mixed media, once it's all had a coat of gesso I havent got to worry about matching the right shades.

I hope I didn't offend anyone - it's not that I don't like a lot of the mixed media, it's just that I am useless at it - I make a mess using mists I really daren't try guesso (though I love when it is appied through a stencil and then given a colour wash!)

Gold embellies, cork, white cardstock backgrounds with a photo plonked in the middle and a few embellishments round it (can you tell I'm not a fan!), mixing pocket and 12x12 LOs, large hand-painted style titles

Watercolour/paint/mixed media but with a lighter touch, more like colour washes. I was going to have a go with Gelatos but the last thing I've bought was some really cool water soluble wax crayons that I'm playing around with, similar idea but a bit cheaper.

Trending in product lines for sure is washi tape, enamel dots and wood veneer shapes. Nearly all the new lines have those three as their core embellishments now.
My Minds Eye are also just going to release sheets of wood veneer, (they're like regular 12x12 sheets of paper but it's veneer) you'll be able to cut your own shapes from, (I'm hoping it'll be good to die cut with) so that should be fun to play with. It should be out in the next couple of weeks.

Is that the neocolours Leo, I love them or have your found something new?

I love mixed media type scrapping at the moment as I can cross over the techniques I'm learning for my art journalling

There was a time when wood and cork were considered a no no...now I guess with photos being digital, it isn't so important to have acid free embellishments near the photo.

I am loving the mixed media art journalling and am really trying to find a space in my busy life to start! I have kept a journal for many years and remember when there was a trend to make a layout with lists and lists of favourite things - more arty than 'scrapbooking'.

Thank you for your input. I do like to know what is 'in' - although in my books...albums...lol...anything goes these days, so long as you are happy with it.

I do what I love and I love what I do.

Take a lot more than that to offend me lol. I'm useless at it as well but that's half the fun and if it really is bad I just whack the gesso back over and start spraying again. Can highly recommend the ranger Mini Misters half filled with water and a squirt of any old pearly acrylic paint. Easier to control than some of the sprays and touch wood so far I havent had one clog on me.
