A tidy house is the sign of a broken computer
Any Scottish scrappers?
Years ago there used to be a monthly challenge run in Community for some reason, with word prompts which were good old Scottish words, to scrap. Things like “clarty ” “dreich” “blootered” “glaikit”.
I loved that album , it was a lot of fun to do.
Just wondered if anyone else remembers doing it and if not does anyone fancy trying it? I am going to do some in any case to finish my album off and will happily share prompts if there are any takers.

Chatty papercrafter
Margo is Scottish but she’s on holiday.

My soul is fed by crafting.
Pieces would have to go in there.
No I don't remember it, but I only have a small portion of Scottish blood.

I don’t remember that, and I’m not Scottish in any way, but have just been on a fantastic road trip up there. It would be fun to use some of the words in my album so please share Hilary, as long as you explain what they mean

Ok will do Alison, I could post say half a dozen per week in July and hopefully you will find something to inspire you!
I will sort some out later on.

Just realised what you meant! Yes, Jeely pieces! Always reminds me of the Jeely piece song, I wonder if it is on YouTube?

I lived there for 23 years until recently.
Numpty is another good Scottish word. If you say of yourself that you were a bit of a numpty, it means exactly what you would expect it to mean - a bit daft and stupid.

Yes, I love numpty too. I have started a thread with some choices under the Challenge Me Challenge You sub forum and I will add it in there. Feel free to add some more, there are some lovely descriptive words.

Gosh I see you have gone to the far south! Which part of Scotland were you in? I was Pitlochry for my first 18 years then Aberdeen for uni and Edinburgh for work before moving to Banbury with the ex’s work.

Yeah I think numpty has become quite universal, not sure where I first heard it though

The OED says possibly Rab C Nesbitt but I don't suppose he was very popular down here. I would have said I'd been using it before that.
Mingin, is another one that is now universal. We had a class mate who lived in a croft up in the hills and had no running water ( I'm not THAT old honest) Fairly understandably he was known as Mingin' Matthew. He used to bring a packed lunch of slices of cold porridge every day. After I changed schools he brought his Dad's Luger from the war and said he was going to shoot the English teacher. Happily he changed his mind and wasn't caught with the gun. Sadly he killed himself in his 20s.

Yes, he was a nice lad as long as you stood upwind of him.
