Mats
I'm trying to make my mats sticky again and having mixed luck.
I washed one which cleaned it nicely but didn't restore the stickyness at all.
I cleaned one with a glue remover then sprayed with restickable glue which is ok, not that sticky but not bad.
Anybody tried to do this with good results?
Thanks

Hi bobble. I only use 3M spray - a bit dearer but worth it. Nothing else works as well.
Yes - wash the mats, let them dry thoroughly before respraying. Only put a little on - you can always add another spray if you feel it is not enough.

Thanks.
I'm hoping that one day they'll invent a cutting machine that won't need sticky mats.

Don't think that will happen if you're cutting card because all card has got varying amounts of fiber. I used to use spray but I use a Zig jumbo 2 way glue pen/stick now

Me too, I find zig pens are the best way.

Never heard of zig pens, where can I buy those?

I know but it's a crazy dream of mine. I used to have one of those little cutters, the name escapes me, but it cut from above and used a glass plate but that was with cartridges.

Also do you clean the mat before you use the Zig pen? Thanks.

There was a machine which proported to be mat free. It was terrible , mine could not even cut a round circle .I was lucky the firm I bought it from tested it and refunded me the price minus the return carriage. Not long after I saw the cameo on create and craft ,bought it and 6 years later am still using it as my workhorse machine.I wish I had bought the cameo first. We may grump about software gremlins but believe me even the oldest software versions are streets ahead of what came with the matless machine. I notice it is not made anymore and am not surprised.I remind myself of it when I need to buy a new mat and am grateful that I bought a cameo.

I found this to be the best, but you really need to tape off the sides before spraying. If not it will goop (if a word it is in Texas ) the rollers.

Yes, I give my mat a good wash with warm water with dish soap. Dry in flat and when dry draw across the mat surface with the zig pen. They come in many different widths, so do yourself a favour and buy a nice wide nibbled one. The glue comes out blue and when dry becomes transparent. Once it is dry replace your paper cover to keep your mat clean.

This is s useful thread. I don’t use my Cameo nearly often enough and I am going to try to pop in more often

cards only
I also now use a wide nib Zig pen, what I like about them is the precision you get compared to the spray glues, sometimes if I am just using up oddments of card, then I just re-do with the Zig just on the bit I am working on.
Grace I'm getting there, 1 step at a time

Is £5.99 a good price for a wide nib Zig glue pen?
