I always make my own, it's nice when you can match them in some way to the front of the card. If I have a nice design on the front I will use it on the inside and reduce the opacity so it looks like a background image.
The problem is when the cards are larger than 6x6 and I have to print them on an A4 printer. But I've worked a way round that by printing them on A3 paper cut down to A4 in width and if I print the insert upside down it works out perfectly. Of course, it would be easier to buy an A3 printer but the last one I bought was a Brother and it was a nightmare to feed the A3 paper in.
If anyone has come up with a better way of printing them do let me know. I used to print them in two halves but if you don't get the join just right and by that I mean completely invisible, then it messes up the whole card.
I've found out how to print A3 on an A4 printer I think! It has worked so far just have to check the spelling for the poem and then make sure it is all lined up. The thought of gluing in the insert and finding an error is the stuff made of nightmares. I simply wouldn't have the time to make it again.
You are good making your own inserts. I made them for the wedding invitations, but cards I'm afraid I usually just hand write in as I'm usually last minute ! Sometimes if I'm feeling very good I will repeat something from the front on the inside.
I've made a few cards with yellow in them, not sure about the Lego one, but I'm not sure what it needs, and to be honest I haven't really given it much thought yet !
Just catching up love all the cards I made a quick quick one this morning but its in the post now tried to do yellow but it turned out pink as used what to hand
Really like the first one of the 3 Alison
That is just gorgeous Ellie! I have all the elements to make something like that and am too frightened of messing up to actually do it. What's the worse that can happen!
Precisely!!! What is the worst that can happen? You make a mess!!
Just paint or stick over it. The only thing I planned on mine was the centre sunflower
Ellie.
I'm so glad to hear that I'm not on my own Alison. I have hearts to paint, the paint to do it, even shadow boxes to make. I have gilding wax and gliding flakes, all with the idea of giving this a go and I just can't seem to start.
I had murder last night with the printer or the software, not sure which. I was just about to print the final insert for the wedding cards and it started printing down the page instead of across it. I couldn't believe my eyes. I had to play around for ages and in the end managed to get it printing properly but why does that happen when you are in a hurry to complete something. The only thing I had done was introduced a new font.
