I can't leave you two alone for a minute!
I'm back but have a rotten cold so it somewhat spoiled my break..but it does mean I can genuinely laze about tomorrow without feeling guilty so I hope to do some more card making then I was hoping to go to a craft fair but I don't want to spread my germs about.
I hope you're feeling better soon Elaine. Colds can make you feel so lousy. We've just had our flu jabs and I go for my pneumonia jab next week, I'll be like a pincushion.
Hope you feel better Now Elaine.
A card for my Sisiter in Law. You wouldn't think she was 81 .she looks 10yrs younger.
She's very fit, never ill, goes ballroom dancing 3 times a week, collects all her
own shopping, and walks 7to 10 miles every Friday with a group of her friends.
She gardens, and like her house it's immaculate. Never anything out of place.
Oh and she does all her own decorating!!
Wish I had half of her energy.
She has one fault, because she's never ill, she cannot understand why other people are !
If you say you have a cold, she just says " oh I never get colds"
She never goes to the docs, only for a flu injection!!!!!!
Here's her card.
I've made a Christmas card and it actually fits some of the prompts. It's silver on white, very simple and it was intended to be really simple. Trouble is, I can't help feeling something is missing, you know me, I usually have flowers or bows on somewhere. I've tried placing different touches such as stars, snowflakes etc... but nothing looks right - so...do I add something or just leave it alone. If I hear the words 'gilding a lily from OH one more time I won't be responsible for my actions' So be truthful to add or not to add that is the question and the other question is what, what could I add or what does it need?
I'll post tomorrow now, bed is calling even if sleep isn't.
Lovely card, but I see what you mean about needing something.
Do you want to leave the colour as is, white on silver, or could a tiny
bit of colour set it off?
Either some little red berries on the silver wreath, or something on the greeting.
A small sprig of holly! Just something small.
Sorry not much help there.
Ellie
I've tried silver sprigs of pine branches round the sentiment and I've tried silver gems in the wreath, the same as those on the sentiment. I've also tried white snowflakes on the wreath and it may be that I need to add some colour but I really wanted to keep it silver and white. I might try white snowflakes with gems in the centre and see how that looks. Keep the ideas coming!
I think simple is really tricky to achieve or it is as far as I'm concerned.
Yes I agree. I think simple is really difficult to do.
I like the silver wreath as it is, so perhaps it's the sentiment that's
the problem..Have you stuck everything down yet.?
What about a thin sliver of silver backing card behind the sentiment, the same shape.
Then it would tie all the silver together.
Ellie
Love the card as it is Susie, I can only do simple !
If you did want to add something, do you have a small piece of sheer silver ribbon, maybe a bow at the bottom of the wreath would work ? Or, as Ellie says a bit of the glittery silver paper behind the sentiment might do the trick
I tried silver behind sentiment and ended up making the sentiment edges silver, although you may not be able to see that from the photo. Believe it or not I tried placing a small silver bow at the bottom of the wreath and I've tried dotting things all over the place and nothing looks right. I'm sure it needs something but I just can't figure out what. I really thought the bow on the wreath would work but it doesn't.
It is all glued down now but before I did that I even tried different style sentiments, that is different design die cuts. I'm now thinking about, maybe, some tiny snowflakes dotted about in silver. It just needs something!
Thank you both so much for the ideas, anymore would be welcome.
Sounds as if you have tried most things Susie.
If the silver snowflakes don't work, I would leave well alone, and
be satisfied with what it is, a simple, lovely card
Ellie
