I think they are the same too, Lucille. I had a look at their software here and it appears they do a couple of protective programmes.
I have just had a trojan infection that, even though it has been cleared/cleaned by Windows defender, I am getting warnings. Not quite sure what to do next but as my son is s MSFT engineer I am hoping he will sort it for me when he comes back from his holiday.

Yes, they are the same. Eset is the developers of NOD32.
They now do 3 security products which are for consumer use.
They have the original NOD32 v2.7, this is the tried and tested version of their antivirus software (I've used this version for many years).
Then they have the new NOD32 v3, this is basicly the same as v2.7 (same detection engine etc) but has a posh new GUI and a different settings layout.
Then they have ESET Smart Security, which is NOD32 v3 and a firewall combined.
If you need advice on any of these, or any security software, just ask.
@ Wishful Thinking: If you think you might still have a virus, you can always use the free online scanner at eset.com not only will it detect any viri you may have, it will also clean them for you (which a lot of online scanners don't do).
(I'm starting to think ESET should pay me commission the amount of recommendations they get from me )

Is this software expensive once the 30 day download has expired.
My daughter had a virus on her computer last week and it won't lod anything - think it's completely gone. She had a virus and all that would come up was a page of dollar signs I think. If she buys a new computer I want to find some antivirus software that's reliable for her.
I pay for an uptodate virus scanner through aol and have never had any problems but there seems to be loads of saddos out there intent in causing misery.

It costs £40 a year, but less if you pay for 2+ years up front.

Yes, direct from Eset. It all starts to load and then I am given the message that there is a problem and Windows will have to close down???
