So I always said I'd never get one, but DH might be getting some back money this month and has said I can treat myself to a cricut! I was just wondering for the ladies that have one- which cartridges do you find you use the most for card making? I'm not so fussed about the fonts as I do love my thickers alphas, but what shape ones are the most useful? Obviously at xmas the xmas cartridges would be good but just now I'm just looking for the best everyday ones.
Also, is there any real difference between the original circut and the expression, other than the size of paper it can cut?
Thank you for any good advice you may have!
Lori - there's a sticky question and answer thread on the top of the general scrapping purely for cricut and also a cricut common room on the team thread
. I'm sure you'll get load of help over there from different people.
Me personally, I love the accent essantial but you only get it with the expression. Beyond birthdays is also another one and New Arrival is just fab for baby cards
My most often used cartridges are mini monograms for the scallops, doodlecharms, stretch your imagination and accent essentials.
too many?? :-)

I started with the baby cricut and then went onto the expression, wish I'd got the expression in the first place!! One of the things I like about the expression is being able to go over the same shape several times if you have a thicker card.

Reason: added info about expression
lol, I have 31 cartridges and I started off by buying my cricut machine from US, then when the expression came out there bought that too.... very addictive.
I have all the original ones, but not all the classmate ones, so I have all the "normal" pink and blue (not the limited edition ones) and I have around 3 green ones (have just noticed they are missing from my shelf DD has my small cricut in her room and must have "borrowed" some of them whilst I was away Monday to Wednesday).
I have 19 carts and I use mainly mini monos and celebrations for the scallop, circles, squares and Rectangles. I love Zooballoo though, I made these cards using that cart
Love your cards Jo... and oooh you have a blog, will go check it out!!
I like Accent Essentials and doodlecharms best, but Base Camp or Plantin Schoolbook are my fave fonts...
I use Mini Monograms, Walk in my Garden, Zooballoo, New Arrival and the disney ones. I too have 31 one of them-they are so addictive and I am ashamed that I have so many and have spent so much-but I love them all!!!!!
Aw, how cute is that elephant card?!
I think I've decided which ones to get, provided DHs money comes through! Thank you all for letting me know which ones you use- its a bit hard to tell when you're seeing shapes on cards to guess which cart they've come from!
DH seems quite excited by it too- don't think he realised how detailed you could cut with a machine!
Lori - how about download the free Cricut Design Studio and then you can have a look at whats on all the cartridges.
Love the cards Josieanne, am awaiting my Mickey & Friends from the states and was thinking about Zooballoo next, I think you've convinced me! Its a nice font too.....
I'm on a mac and I think I read someplace that the DS software isn't Mac compatible? Gwyneth sent me a link anyway so I got a good look at most of the carts-enough to make it difficult to narrow down my choice to just a few carts!
