    lullaby poem help

    I'm sure there's a poem called lullaby or about lullabies (not just a lullaby on it's own) but I can't find it, does anyone know it?

    This poem appeared in a play entitled The Pleasant Comoedy of Patient Grissill, which was written with Henry Chettle (1560 - 1607) and William Haughton. Here it is:

    Golden slumbers kiss your eyes,
    Smiles awake you when you rise.
    Sleep, pretty wantons, do not cry,
    And I will sing a lullaby:
    Rock them, a lulla, lullaby.

    Care is heavy, therefore sleep you;
    You are care, and care must keep you.
    Sleep, pretty wantons, do not cry,
    And I will sing a lullaby:
    Rock them, a lulla, lullaby.

    Is this the one you are looking for - I know it as Golden Slumbers

    Golden slumbers kiss your eyes,
    Smiles await you when you rise.
    Sleep,
    pretty baby,
    Do not cry,
    And I'll sing you a lullaby.

    Care you know not,
    Therefore sleep,
    While I o'er you watch do keep.
    Sleep,
    pretty darling,
    Do not cry,
    And I will sing a lullaby.

    An Angel's Lullaby

    -=- -=- -=- -=- -=- -=- -=- -=- -=- -=- -=- -=- -=-

    Sleep so sweetly slumbering babe,
    Nestled snug and warm;
    For the Father sends His angels,
    To keep you safe and warm.

    A bundle fresh from Heaven,
    Without an earthly care;
    Sleeping there in innocence,
    Angels hover in the air.

    They whisper to you sweet dreams,
    They sing a lullaby;
    An angel's song to soothe you,
    To quiet you when you cry.

    A song of peaceful harmony,
    Caressing you as you sleep;
    Words drift 'round your tiny head,
    While angel's guard and keep.

    Sleep so sweetly slumbering babe,
    While time goes gently by;
    Your angels watch and sing to you,
    An angel's lullaby.

    Here's one called Lullabye

    Go to sleep my little one
    and close your sweet blue eyes.
    The moon is gently glowing
    another day is done.

    Dream about a princess
    in a castle by the sea.
    Dream of frogs and fairies
    of ladybugs and bees.

    Dream of sandy beaches
    and tall majestic trees.
    Dream of yellow daisies
    and the rustling of leaves.

    Dream of sweets and peppermints
    the smell of fresh baked bread.
    Dream of apple pies my love
    come rest your weary head.
