One thing to remember is to remove the metal mat protector BEFORE you set the machine off to draw!
The fine tip needs minimal force or it tears the foil.
I am using the foil quill on an origional cameo and running a version 3 of the software on an old computer and so have had to learn how to fill in a design which is an "interesting "learning curve. My main problem was to achieve adequate tension on the foil when foiling accross 8.7x11card.
Remembering to site designs at the bottom of the mat so a quick peek could show when to repeat the "cut" if an area had not foiled...I need a new cutting strip as mine is worn out and this gives patchy cuts.
What is the verdict on the proposed magnetic mats for the foil quill?

I also have the foil quill and love it but use it on a different machine. I buy rolls of washi tape in the £ shop.
You will have loads of fun with it. Enjoy x

Just taken the plunge but not been able to try it yet, had to buy a USB extension lead and an adaptor plug in order to give it power, nearly another £30's worth, it sure is an expensive item which means I have to master it. The extension and plug was cheaper than a power bank though. Now I need to watch some You Tube videos and read the S.S. blog, just hope it won't take too long to master it as I need it fairly urgently.

Oh dear, looks like I wasted money. I just went to Curry's PC World as I always try to shop locally, resorting to online shops when they are the only option. I'm worried that the big river site will one day be the only option and that's when the goods will cease to be a bargain. Don't know why I'm bothered though as I will probably be dead and gone before it happens!

No apology needed Helena it's just that Graphtec sponsor this group for their machines and though the quill which can be used by their machine's is being talked about Graphtec don't sell the Quill or the things that go with it so the posts are going a bit off topic ie the actual machine's and accessories they sell or the software
