Had Petplan when I had my 2 original cats Simba and Jenny. Cancelled it when Jenny got to 10 and the excess went to 120 + 20% per condition. This was 18 years ago. Then when we got Bonnie and Darcy rang them and they said oh yes with 4 cats!!!!! They still had Jenny down even though the policy was cancelled really upsetting as wed just lost Jenny. Went with another insurer for the 3 of them had to change cos they changed underwriters classed as new policy so any condition would be pre existing excess went up payments went up so cancelled. Then when the next one tried putting Freddies up just cos she was going to be 13 even though id not claimed cancelled the lot and put money in building society. So far ive not had to dip into it so the pot is growing.

My vet wont claim through insurance you have to pay then claim back. They will fill the forms in etc and charge a fee.

Oh it really is a mine field, don’t envy you having to do it !
So are you sticking with that one then Susie?

That crane is really high. Lovely blue sky as well.
    It’s getting frosty here again.

Oh Mary, I hope it doesn't amount to anything too nasty. Have you had your flu jab? Best to have a few days in and rest and keep warm if you can, it is so bitterly cold out at the moment.

I think I am but who knows Ellie. What they tell you on the phone is one thing, in real life it can be something completely different.

I have never had flu and I won’t have the jab. I am basically a healthy person, and this is just a bug that has been doing the rounds here

That's okay Mary, I just wish I had your immune system. Hubby has always been quite good although he has had the flu but until recently he's never had anything particularly nasty that I can recall, he used to just have a day of rest and be right as rain. This cold that is doing the rounds has been the first thing I've seen him poorly with since the flu. The last time he had the flu was back in the 90's but we do have our flu jabs. I missed mine in 2014 and caught the flu and it was that awful one that wouldn't go away, rather like this cold but worse because it's the flu! Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Off to bed now, I hope the weather is better tomorrow. It's wet and cold and the dogs smell of wet wool now.

Susie a friend of mine lives in Ellesmere Port and shes told me that Swine flu is around the area. Shed had her flu jab but still caught it. Despite the fact that she has health issues and the doctor that did the home visit noted that it was possibly Swine flu nothing was said to her!!!! It was only when she read something in the local paper that she realised that she could possibly have it. She rang her docs to report it and that was when she was told that it was down as a possible on her notes!!!!

    Morning.
Loving the frosty photos. Looks like ours is melting this morning so by the time I’m dressed it will probably be gone haven’t had chance yet as had Lara Monday then worked Tues and Wed.
Susie, we use the cheapest horse insurance, lots of people criticise it,and some vets are wary of it but I’ve never had a problem claiming. They are thorough in getting all details when you first claim, but that is their job. As long as you have told the truth all along there are no problems, my first claim did take a while to come through but once they had all the info subsequent claims have been much easier. Too often people think if they don’t tell insurance about an issue it won’t affect things when they really need to claim. If the vet has been seen about an issue, they have to declare that when insurance asks.
Actually, I think you dog and cat owners probably care about your animals more than a lot of horse owners, they often just stick them in a field, ride them once a week and that’s that. They don’t like to get the vet out unless they are really bad, because of the costs ! DD’s friend is driving us mad because she won’t have shoes put on her young horse, he has a wonky leg and the shoes would help balance the wonkiness. He keeps getting abscesses on his foot, which probably wouldn’t happen if he had shoes, but she doesn’t want the extra cost of shoeing every 6-8 weeks.
It really annoys me that people buy horses so quickly and easily, often with no experience or thought of what it really involves !
Anyway, sorry about that, rant over
    Have a nice day x
    Alison

    Morning all,
Thank you Alison. I agree with you. Some people buy animals of all kinds,to quickly,
without any thought to what it entails.
Your DDs friend wants a good talking to!! What is she thinking about!!
The poor horse, it must be in pain with all the abscesses. What will she do when the hooves grow.
She will eventually have to have a farrier to cut them down!
I know it was expensive to have ours shod, years ago, but it has to be done, and if you can’t
afford to keep and look after animals, then you shouldn’t have them!!

Mary ,you are very lucky that you haven’t had the flu, ever.!
I would never miss my flu injection, I have to have it because of the complications
I get if I do have flu. You can still get flu, but it’s not as bad, if you have had an injection.

It’s frosty here too today, no sunshine either yet this morning.
The pavement is covered in black ice!
    Ellie
