You’re doing an amazing job Susie. They landed on their feet when you adopted them!
Mine are all rescues but only one has issues. She’s terrified of most things but now she’s going a bit deaf she has calmed down a bit onvaccount she can’t hear the wind, the door, the draft, the gun shots, the fireworks etc but we don’t know her history either. She was found running in the main road! The other two are sound as a pound.
I ended up at soft play and Costa although the rain dried up but it was too muddy to do much.
Have a great time away Mary

Those dogs are certainly lucky to have you ! As you say there’s many people who can’t cope with all that and give up. One of Daisy’s brothers or sisters was returned after a week - they couldn’t cope with it !

Ok here’s one with me in, not too bad I suppose. Wish I’d done my coat up like everyone else though

That is a lovely family photo Alison, thanks for sharing it with us. You look great, who cares about the coat.

As for the doggies, you know exactly what I mean Elaine when you have a dog who is frightened of everything. That was our Rosie, the first one we got from the rescue. We know she'd been beaten, even her former owner said that to the rescue and it must have been a tall, grey haired man who did it, because she was scared of everything and would run upstairs and shake like a leaf if cork popped out of a botttle, or she bumped into a carrier bag when you were bringing in shopping, never mind all the noises you mentioned.

I think I've said before, the day she changed was when someone knocked on our door and she was lying under the coffee table at the time. She jumped up in fright and the table had caught on her back, as she flew around in her panic the table smashed against the radiator, shattering the glass and she leapt through the air over the settee and ran for the stairs. We had to calm her and keep her away from the broken glass. But when she realised she could smash the house to bits and only get cuddled, well, it was a defining moment for her. After that she became so much more confident and was like a different dog. She was my shadow, she followed me everywhere a real mummy's girl.

Thanks Elaine, you too. If your dog was found running in the main road, chances are she'd been dumped from a car. That seems to be the thing to do and only last week I read about two dogs thrown from a car, one got run over but the other survived. We are such a cruel race. My sister's dog, a Toy Yorkie was found in the middle of the road, they are tiny things how much trouble could it be for goodness sake. It was a lucky day for him when she took him in.

Alison, it is amazing how people get puppies and can't cope. One OES ended up in rescue at 6 months because she grew too big. She's an Old English, what did they expect!

We've had a fairly dry day here but the leaves in the road are going like mulch now and the mess they bring in is awful. I'll ring the council again tonight, this will be my 4th call in just over a month to get them cleaned. If you slip, even on one leaf you can go flying. So far, I've slipped, my 86 year old neighbour has slipped and my other neighbour is almost 7 months pregnant and if she slips, well, it doesn't bear thinking about. Off to call them again.

Oh dear and doesn’t she know it !!
Labradors are noted for chewing things, and puppies will chew anyway.
The only thing our Labrador chewed was the corner of her wooden bed.
    So we were lucky.

Lovely family photo Alison, nice and relaxed

She's a puppy, it's her job Alison. Have they tried bitter apple spray? Mind you, you may have to spray the whole house. We were given it to stop the boys chewing their paws. I think it's a stress thing as they've done it since we first got them but instead of spraying paws you might be able to use it on carpet or furnishings, although, that ship's sailed from the looks of it.

glad your dog is feeling better Susie
Lovely photo of you and your family Alison
I had a good journey up and actually arrived here in Skipton earlier than usual as the trains seemed to have been rescheduled which allowed me to catch a through train at Leeds which didn't stop at as many stations and the little commuter train.
