Help with upgrade

I'm on a mac and am using designer edition. Silhouette keeps trying to upgrade but it just freezes. Any ideas what's happening?
Also I recently upgraded the mac and since then silhouette has been slightly blurred. I'm on version 4.1.454ssde.
I've also got ss_bluetooth in the dock on the mac and it doesn't seem to do anything and there's no getting rid of it, I do know that it's something to do with silhouette but I don't know what.
