Sorry to be a pain but the ones i've found say that it's permanent glue, is that the correct one?

It's the one below. Use it sparingly. It's blue when it goes on and if you use it when it's blue it's permanent just wait till it's clear then you can use the mat

Do you need to use it each time Doreen or does it last a few goes?

I have found the mats either too sticky and can't get my cuts off or not sticky enough and the card then slides, usually right at the end of the cut.

I've taken a screenshot of my Silhouette software I'm using. I have used it not so long ago and it was fine but I really want to get back to using my Silhouette again.

It lasts really well so no not every time just when it's not tacky any more but make sure you don't put too much on.

This is the latest version https://www.silhouetteamerica.com/software I can't remember what the layout looked like on the version you've got but this might be a new layout to you Susie

That's handy to know as I've tried the sprays and they are a bit too messy for me. I'm sure I've got a Zig glue pen in my craft room somewhere. I'd be amazed if I didn't because I must have just about every other make.

Finding out about the Zig pen to re-sticky the mats, was, the very best info I've had in a while, I often use up scraps of card and I mean scraps, like a few inch square etc., and that is when I think the Zig pen comes into it's own, even if my mat might be sticky enough I use my Zig pen just to be sure, just on the bit where the card will be, and I never get card slipping, no matter how small my piece of card is. so, hooray for this forum AND for Zig pens.

I clean my old matts off with a baby wipe, let dry 24 hours and then use Zig jumbo 2 way glue pen/stick now . Works like a charm every time.
