Disapearing cut and perforation lines

When I chop a bit off of a shape I lose all my dash lines and the shape fills with colour?

What version of the software are you using Tricia ?

I think I'm up to date although I've only got a portrait, the original one. I know there's a few features I can't use. It's when I right click to select that it happens.

What tool are you using to chop your shape, could you post a screen shot of what you are trying to do ?

I'm trying to cut a shape in half that already has perforation lines and cut lines by using the knife tool. Sometimes the shape fills with colour?

Have you tried ungrouping everything and maybe releasing the compound path if it has one before using the knife ?
