Families who emigrated to Australia/Canada

I have found 3 families who emigrated to Australia and 2 who went to Canada
I am struggling with both countries records (free this weekend )
I can't even find passenger lists for the 2 families arriving in Canada even though I have the date, ship etc that they left on (1950s)

I have some records for the Aussie families but can't find births, marriages or even deaths. I've looked at electoral rolls to the 1980s so have the first generation's addresses
Any ideas or are the records just not there?

It was free over the weekend for commonwealth records that was why I was having a look

Late last year l got a message via Genes re utd. It was someone who said she had done some investigating and thought that her dad was my mums brother. After recovering we exchanged email adresses. I nor my family knew andthing about this. So l asked Genes Re Utd if they could check if it was correct. After filling in my grans name and details they got back to me. The woman and her brother where indeed my cousins. But they lived in Canada. Genes supplied us with all the detaills, plus the date, and name of ship my mums illigitimate brother sailed to Canada in, in his teens his teens. I had to contact Genes over another matter and they answer in no time. Theres no payment, they just love to get a juicy case. So f you have a problem l would contact them, they are brilliant
