    Beautiful card Alison..so elegant..so you!
Susie..that lovely card you sent me and those lovely die cuts..what GSM are they please? I’m going to The Lake District on Sunday for 5 days and while DH climbs Helvelyn (again)I’m off to Paper Mill Direct in Kendal which looks an awesome craft shop and stocks lots and lots or paper and card! I’m hoping to find a something that compares to it. TIA

That card is absolutely stunning Alison, they are going to love it and treasure it and yes how did you do those flowers? They do look as though they are cut and placed individually.

Elaine, that card stock, if you mean the printable one you won't buy anywhere except on the Isle of Wight, trust me, I've tried because Ellie and I were talking about getting a few of us together to see if we could buy in a small bulk and split it. I rang the company who make it in Cornwall and they only supply to one firm now, they don't even supply to industry, government anyone. If you find something from PaperMill that comes close let me know, although we had a PM shop here and I never found anything. I've been using the same cardstock, having tried every other I could find, for 16 years and sadly nothing comes close.

The die cuts I cut from a card from C&C because it doesn't print as well but it is fine for cutting etc... All the card stock is around 245-250gsm but the thing about my special card stock is it doesn't warp, so when I was making charity cards, if they hung them above a fire or radiator, the card didn't bend as a lot of card will. When you're selling people something you want it to be good quality, also people were asking for special photo's to be put on their Christmas cards so it needed to produce to photo quality, which that does and it is double sided. I use it now for printing designs and for heat embossing and for printing photo's for card fronts such as the wedding card. Die cutting I use up what ever fits the bill but I only use that card for die cutting if I am printing on to it first, so I get a clear, crisp, print image. So, I would have used that card for printing the sentiment for your birthday card and then die cut it and I used it for the heat embossing and I've used it for the resist technique as well as I did with the gold card.

Sorry I could rave about this card stock for ever I should be on commission. They used to make the best photo paper as well and when I found out they'd stopped making it, I bought the last from the I.O.W. two big A3 boxes of photo paper. When I rang Cornwall last week and asked why they stopped producing photo paper they said it was due to all the cheap Chinese imports and they now make more specialist paper that can be printed on and used underwater and in all sorts of odd places like under the sea!!! For now, they are continuing to produce my lovely card stock but I've made him promise if they ever decide to stop he must let me know so I can stock up, he must have thought me mad.

I'll tell you what is lovely from PM Elaine, their pearlescent card. I bought it by the box load when they were closing down, I think it was seconds but you'd never know. It will print beautifully but not clearly, but if you want to just change the colour or have a more washed out design it is great. It also cuts well through punches and dies. I used a lot for my niece's wedding stationery and I printed it all out in ivory and it was fine for printing the gold wording onto it, it was clear enough but subtle. Worth getting some of that if you haven't tried it already.

Yes it was a photo I took of some of my roses.
I think the die cut was one Susie sent me and the pp
is a scrap from some Crafters Companion Shabby Chic Collection.
    Thanks Denise.

Let me get this right, can you buy the card stock, but only
from the IOW? It’s so gorgeous and smooth. When it’s printed
it feels like velvet. It’s just lovely. I printed some pp from
an old cd that I had, never printed before ,and I couldn’t
believe how clear and smooth it was ! Just lovely

I think we will have to give Susie a Gold Star for being
    an Ace Enabler

Thanks for comments on my card, each flower was punched and stuck down individually and a little gem stuck on each, didn’t actually take too long, it was quite simple really
You certainly are the card expert Susie, you are such a perfectionist. See, now you are praised for being an enabler
Ellie, you card is beautiful, Fabulous photo and very pretty paper

Well, I never thought I'd be praised for being an enabler, that's a first!

That is such a lovely card Ellie, so pretty and the rose is a beautiful shade of pink, the little birthday die is a perfect finishing touch. Great photo too!

You have it in one Ellie, the only place we can buy the card from is the IOW. I used to get it from the Wirral and when he closed down I found it in Stoke but he's gone also. Let me know who is interested because it isn't cheap, but, it isn't too expensive when you compare buying card such as Crafter's Companion. I've just checked and this is cheaper than buying card stock like Neenah Solar White. The secret is, everyone pushes uncoated card stock because it doesn't, as they put it 'grab the ink' but by not grabbing the ink it means it doesn't have the depth of colour or vibrancy that this coated card stock gives. That's why I gave you some to try first. How about I ring my guy tomorrow and ask if he can do it a bit cheaper because other customers want it - he can only say no, but he's a nice guy, very helpful. Depending on what his mark up is he may be able to help but either way if you are buying you would have to buy 150 sheets. It sounds a lot but works out cheaper even if you buy in bulk elsewhere and of course once you've tried this for printing and embossing etc... you won't be satisfied with anything else.

I had to find the best because I was making 1000's of charity cards and I was Googling paper manufacturer's and ringing asking for samples but still haven't found anything to match this. I'm ringing him tomorrow anyway so I can only ask. I'll get price for a box. I was thinking of asking him if it is any cheaper to buy A3 size (for me anyway) because you have more options for use and it is easy enough to cut to A4. At present, I buy A4 and it comes boxed so no damage. Just out of curiosity, which brand of card stock do you buy now? No pressure here, I will continue to buy this anyway so if no-one else does want to buy it or isn't ready to buy it just yet that's fine.

How did Strictly Come Prancing go Elaine?

Alison, I don't know how you managed to get those flowers placed so perfectly. I'm sure I'd have been driven to distraction - who's the perfectionist now! Isn't it funny how such a simple, elegant card can have such a staggering amount of work go into it.

Susie:Strictly come Prancing last night..it was ok..but could have been better. We couldn’t hear the music very well so the prompts we needed were masked and we missed a couple of cues. All in all it was OK. I hope it’s more polished by the 28th. Trouble is I’m away next week and someone else is away the following week so not sure when we will be able to get together all of us again.
I’m interested in A4 card but not A3 as I don’t have A3 printer. 150 sheets will last a while but I would still like it.

The only reason I suggested A3 is because I thought it might be cheaper as they don't have to cut it again but I've checked and it doesn't seem to make much difference to the price. A3 is easy to cut on my cutter but the price I've just been given for A4 is £22.79 inc. VAT + £6.50 shipping. That works out cheaper than CC card stock, which is great. That is also for 150 sheets all boxed to keep it flat and undamaged. I am waiting to speak to the boss to see if he can do it a little bit cheaper, probably not.

Okay he is prepared to do it for £18 per box inc. VAT if we buy around 6-7 boxes at a time between us. That's £18 for 150 sheets. If I pay for the lot and have him send it to you it may bring the shipping back to £4.75 each. Go and have a think and compare it price wise with other companies, the only thing to bear in mind is other card stock won't be nearly as good. I think it is a saving of just under 25%, I had no idea he would do such a good deal. Did say he was a nice guy though which I knew because he offered to do it cheaper for me when I was doing the cards for charity.

Let me know what you think and don't feel pressured in anyway because I won't buy any other card stock now so I would still be buying from him either way.
