    Morning everyone!

For this month's design element we're focusing on....

    Geometric shapes

I've added some tips and ideas over on my blog here.

The full instructions and details for this year's challenge can be found here in the January post.

And past prompts are all listed under the tag 2018 card challenge on my blog.

Also for those of you on Instagram, I'll be using the hashtag #2018handmadecardchallenge to share my projects there, so feel free to use this tag on Instagram as well!

    Enjoy!

that’s what I thought Susie. I’m not really into geometric patterns,
    but will have a think.

What did I say Ellie? Were you having a senior moment there! Actually you were reading my mind. I gulped when I saw this as I don't even buy geometric shaped dies and that's something coming from me. But I've got a couple of patterned papers that might fit the bill, so maybe not as daunting as it sounds.

    Sorry Denise and Susie.

Well, I obviously don't worry about cheating as much as you do Ellie. I am going to try and use the hexagon die cuts, that I got in the swap, they would count and they are so lovely but I've been wanting to use them with stamps and now I can, so that might be a way to go.

Good challenge Nat as it certainly has me out of my comfort zone.

    Don't panic! Don't panic!

Remember that a square, circle, hexagon, triangle, etc. are all geometric shapes - I'm sure you will have something that fits the bill that could be used to make an aperture. Like Susie, I have a hexagon die that cuts a load of hexagons in one go that can then be pieced together to create a background.

Or what about using 4 squares on a square card that each contain a different element - you could even stamp an image on a large square and cut it into four then mount these four squares slightly spaced apart on the front of your card.

Lots of opportunity for clean and simple designs.

You could do the reverse of an aperture and mask off a shape, then blend with ink to create the background, remove the mask and stamp/stick your greeting inside the shape that is revealed.

Oh Nat, you missed your chance there, you should have said "Don't panic Mr. Mainwaring". What a classic line from a classic sitcom.

    don’t panic, don’t panic !!
Get on Pinterest ladies, I’m sure you’ll find some inspiration there

This is right up my street Nat, clean and simple is just my style. I love pretty flowery cards but I can’t seem to do them. Some great suggestions there, although I’m not sure I’ll do the masking

Oh Alison, if it isn't pretty and flowery then I struggle! Wasn't it you that sent me the hexagon shapes or was it Elaine? I meant to keep everything completely separate so I could thank you all as I used them but that didn't happen. They are all in a separate box but as I've rooted through they have become a little mixed up. Never mind, you will all know and can tell me.

I’ve done the same with the die cuts Susie, I’m pretty sure the dies I used on my January Christmas cards were from you and Ellie . I think I did send some hexagons to someone, look forward to seeing what you do with them
