love the evening primrose and the raindrops really enhance the photo
I had a surprise this afternoon, my neighbour's cat was making strange noises and that usually means he is arguing with one of my cats, I went out to separate them but could only see him I walked around the little flower bed as I thought my cat was probably hiding under the rosemary but no cat there then I saw this on the path

Thanks Mary, I am going to see if it is open now and get another photo, it was dark when I took that one and wet of course.

Love the photo of the frog, at least it looks more frog than toad, they are lumpier aren't they? Have you ever seen them or heard them when they are frightened? They put their front feet/hands/paws!!! over their eyes and squeal, a very high pitched noise. The first time I heard this noise I was in bed and had to see which animal was in distress. I found my neighbour's cat pawing at a frog and it sat there in that position, sort of, if I can't see you, you can't see me. But the noise was so loud I heard it from my bedroom, this was about 1am. Needless to say, I chased the cat and rescued the frog, although to some degree it did work because the cat didn't seem to know what of make of this squealing creature but it was awful because the little frog must have been terrified.

Well done Susie on rescuing the frog. I have never heard them making that sound.
It must be loud, for you to hear it indoors.
We have a frog that lives in our barrel pond, and when we clean it in
Autumn, I have to catch it while hubby does the cleaning

Yes, I can see what you mean Mary, he does have that more scaly look than a frog. If you Google squealing frogs you can actually see a video of a puppy finding a frog and the frog squealing. I was reading that they aren't sure if it is fear, or to frighten off the predator or if a bird is attacking it, to attract a cat to get the bird. I reckon it is probably fear and maybe trying to frighten the predator away. Then again, when they squeal with their little feet over their eyes that has to be fear surely. It is sad to see and nice to be able to rescue the frog.

The man in his little van has been down poisoning the weeds on the pavement today. I sent hubby up the vale with a bottle of water to pour over the Evening Primrose flowers in the hope of saving them. He's thinks I'm mad but I don't care. I'll have to make sure the dogs don't go sniffing round the pavements now.

Oh dear. Yes be very careful of letting the dogs sniff round.
I should imagine it's strong poison, although I think that they
will have domestic and wild life in mind when spraying.
If it's that poisonous, they should have notices out stating warning people!!!!

You're right Ellie they should and I imagine they would but I'm not taking any chances.

We went for a stroll, twice of course, and I took some photo's, British, one Summer and if I can crop it, one Time. the time one I was actually taking a photo of the hydrangeas in the church grounds.P1050153.jpg

The five pound note I found in the road and there was no-one around. The butterfly/moth was in the road also, and I took the photo of part of the church grounds and noticed the board but I can't crop as well with this camera. My other camera I could crop and it would be really sharp, but there you go. Hubby reckons I see these things because I am small and closer to the ground than him, cheeky devil.

    cheeky indeed.

Good photos though. Lucky find, and the moth is beautiful.
Very inventive time one. I would never have thought of that.
Still not got a photo of the one I wanted to take, maybe tomorrow

Sounds intriguing Ellie, looking forward to it.

If someone says they've lost a fiver, they can have it back but other than that, finder's keepers. Mind you, when I was little I found 1s 6d in the middle of the big park by our house (which seemed a lot to me back then) and insisted on taking it to the police station. Dad told me that was a lovely gesture but I had to go on my own. I do remember the policemen trying to keep a straight face when I handed it in. I think I was about 11 at the time. We were brought up to believe in honesty being the best policy, maybe that was pushing it a bit.

Forgot to mention, one of our dogs has taken up knitting. Hubby found him with the wool wrapped round his tummy and all his legs. He had to shout to stop him walking before he unravelled all my hard work. I was shaping the armholes last night and untangling long strands of dog hair (actually theirs is a wool, I should have knitted it in) and pieces of dried leaves. I keep it in a carrier bag and he obviously thought there must be food in it and got the lot in a right old mess.

Then he went and got the bag of rubbish which was full and just about to go out to the bin, so it was on to the floor with that, ripped it apart and went through every scrap of rubbish. Such naughty boys, but you can't help but love them. Funny thing is he has no shame, he just doesn't care. As fast as you are picking it up he's trying to steal more or something else if you're not careful. They certainly keep us on our toes.
