Hi
Trying something new and need a bit of help please.
I have taken a rectangle frame shape that has a cut out bit in the middle, just a standard frame shape. I have put a fancy corner shape in each of the corners but I don't know if I now need to weld or create compound path.
I tried dragging a box round the inner part of the frame with the corners and selected weld but the whole thing disappeared, not sure why.
If the two rectangles have been made into a compound path to make a frame make sure your fancy corner's overlap the inner rectangle slightly then weld the them to the frame
Hi
I tried that but when I drag a box around the middle rectangle and corners and click weld the corners disappears and the rectangle goes wrong, hopefully there is a pic to explain
Nic
I can't try them because I don't have that design but maybe they've only been grouped, try making each one of them a compound path too then see if they will weld to the frame
Hi Doreen
Sorry about this but I need to master it. I have made the frame a compound path and each of the corners. I overlapped the corners and the dragged a box round and clicked weld, this is the outcome lol
Hmm I'm not sure it would be possible with the file you have because the edges you need to overlap are straight so when you overlap it the whole line overlaps you really need something that doesn't have a straight edge as you can see in my screenshot with the butterfly.
The butterfly on the left shows how part of it would overlap and the one on the right shows it welded is that what you mean Screenshot_2.png
Nic, is this what you mean (see image)? Could you show the individual elements of what you want to weld together which might help with simulating what to do to achieve what you want? I just put this together with random elements in my library so please excuse the total lack of design!!
