Help with die cutting please

I bought a cheap metal die by Dovecraft today which should fit through my sidekick, what do I need to use between the two cutting mats please?

A shim of some sort. They use to sell adaptors for the sizzix machines to use with the thin dies but don't think they make them now. Put some card under the die to make it thicker might need to play around for thickness but should work.

You can buy lots of metal shim type plates, but as Sandra says, try with a layer or two of cardstock first as it may be enough to get the die to cut though!

Have you tried it? You may find you don't need a shim. If you do just cut some cardstock to size.

I keep some of the card packaging the dies come in to use as shims.
