Exclamation The 2017 Pantone card challenge

    Happy New Year everyone!

I'm finally back at my PC and my craft desk ready to bring you a new challenge for 2017.

This year our inspiration comes from the Pantone colours chosen for Spring and Autumn 2017.

Initially we'll be working with six colours and shades from the Spring collection.... here is a sneak peek!

    Pantone Spring 2017.jpg

Each month I'll share which colour(s) I've chosen plus some Pinterest images to inspire you - as in previous years I will provide some additional hints for how to interpret the prompts on your cards - you can find them here.

The full instructions and details for this year's challenge can be found here in the January post.

And past prompts will be listed under the tag 2017 Pantone card challenge on my blog.

Also for those of you on Instagram, I'll be using the hashtag #2017pantonecardchallenge to share my projects there, so feel free to use this tag on Instagram as well!

So on with this month's Pantone colours...

    Island Paradise

    Happy crafting!

I love the island paradise colour but I'm not sure if I can quite get the same shade when I print it, it will have to be something close. I love the Niagara colour but not sure anyone would want a card in this colour, not for the birthdays I have in mind. I might just make one and use it for a get well card or something else. Just need the old mojo working now.

Glad you're all liking the look of this year's challenge.

Don't get too worried about duplicating exact shades Susie, it's all about being inspired by the colour - just see what you have that resembles it most closely and you don't need to make it the only colour you use. For Niagara I think you could feature some dusky blue paper flowers like hydrangea or create your own floral accents with stamps or dies that add that pop of blue.

Thanks Nat. I'd like to make something with the Niagara because it is such an unusual colour. I must have a look and see if I have any background papers that have that in. I have lots of those little 6x6 books that I never use.

Wow, you've done me quite a favour Nat. Having checked the 6x6 paper pads I find I have at least 20 pads that I can put my hands on straight away and I never think to use them. They have some interesting blues in there too. This should be my New Year's Resolution, to use up at least some of my old stash. The papers are really pretty so they will be the first to try.

Well there you go! Dilemma solved.

I am hoping to use up a lot more old paper stash this year as papers are becoming so expensive to purchase and when you only like one or two from a collection it's hard to justify paying the postage to get them. It's a shame, but it is what it is... I also find I'd rather spend what crafting money I do have on dies/stamps and tools that will make my already outrageous stash go further. For example I have finally ordered the W R Memorykeepers punchboard for making my own envelopes and it also does gift boxes and bows so with any luck papers that won't ever make it onto a card can be used to make envelopes/envelope boxes for the cards I make that are a bit oversized and won't fit back in a regular envelope.

Me too Susie....dozens of those 6" pads and now I get a free one with my DT kit each month too! I need a bigger craft room..still I know you out do me on the die buying front so I don't feel soooo bad..lol
Nat..I love your card. So pretty and subtle. You reminded me that I bought an envelope punch last year from Stampin up..it's never been out of the box! I must get it out and use it!
