    May Blog Bits and Blog-a-thon

    Layouts

We start off May's Blog Bits with this lovely page by sutty - a veritable confection of pink gorgeousness! The papers are BoBunny, by the way. In complete contrast, but equally gorgeous, check out Jennifer2016's bold blueness. Jen was prompted by SLYMIR to dig out her chipboard. Have you joined in the reboot yet? Great prompts and big points, too! Staying with bold, a style I love, Jimjams has shared a super page using an old photo, another of the SLYMIR prompts. Going back to sutty and BoBunny do watch Katherine's video - fab for a first attempt (well fab for any attempt actually!) Mixed media is a bit of a mystery to me and the video is a really helpful 'here's how you do it'. I've noticed a little trend emerging of using black and white with highlights of blue - lovely! Here's one by sponsor Hey Little Magpie. And, as always, if you like a sketch challenge don't forget to look up MiniOwner and LittleChubblies.

    Cards

I have to confess to giving susibee a wee nudge to update her blog; her cards are so lovely and there's an added bonus of a tutorial in this post. Sympathy cards, by their very nature, are hard to do so I was pleased to find a nice example by sponsor
Creating Art with He{Art}. Such a pretty card from a sketch, by elainevking, and, while you are there, scroll down the post for some more gorgeous makes. I took a stroll through the card making forum and came across a couple of older posts well worth a visit - some very effective quick cards from scrappee and, at the other end of the spectrum, a very pretty and intricate card by YorkieMomFlUSA. I don't find cardmaking at all easy and anything to get my mojo going is very useful, so a big thank you to MysticNat for her stunning May prompts; the colours are yummy! And, last but not least, a really cute and fun card by ScrapHappyNiki using (yay!) a sketch.

    Other projects

I love love love this string of birdies made by Efemera - they will be featuring in our beach hut very soon! Did you know you could iron paper onto Vilene? Me neither. How about this mini album by susibee who has also shared the very moving story behind it. I can't say I've been particularly taken by the Downtown Abbey inspired papers (much as I am a fan of the TV series) but Jennifer2016's minibook has changed by mind. Isn't it just gorgeous? There's another minibook/travel journal worth taking a peek at by CoventryAnn making a perfect memory book of a trip to Paris and there's more of that beautiful city in Maggie B's tags made for the tag swap - bet you wish you'd signed up. Now, I was thinking I might use my all time favourite punch - the owl builder - as my featured treasure for this week's challenge and there it is in elainevking's fabulous tags! Lemonblossom has blogged a rainy day page for her journal which would also make a great card - very apt for our current weather. And, to remind us this really is spring, we finish this month with a clear and helpful tutorial by ejc for a knockout spring wreath

I have checked all the links but they do sometimes have a wobble when I copy them across to General Scrapping. Please PM me if you spot a broken link

Don't forget to claim your 20 bonus points if you make anything inspired by this month's Blog Bits.
