Challenge #3 Stamp your Own Background

Good morning and welcome back to Day Two of the UKScrappers 2014 Summer Scrapbooking Challenge! Challenge #3 is to use three or more of your existing rubber stamps to create a stamped background.

I started by choosing a background paper, something quite subtle, not a bold colourful pattern, but I didn't want something totally plain either. I chose a red tone-on-tone chevron. I then made the layers of my layout, but stuck them all together without sticking them to the background page. I then drew around my layers in the position I wanted them to sit on my layout with a light pencil line, and then I started stamping. I went for a whole lot of stamps - some words and phrases, some icons and border strips to create most of the stamping, and I did this in a slightly darker shade of red from my background paper. I then chose a few stamps to stamp in black ink, to give more of an impact. Once the stamping was done I flicked on some ink splatters and then stuck my layout to my background paper.

My finished layout is below and there are more photos of my process on my blog here.

Challenge #3 is worth 30 bonus points for your team if you are a points-collector (you must use three stamps or more to create a background). Please share your layouts on Instagram using the hashtag #uks2014summerscrapbookingchallenge and/or in the UKS dedicated Gallery.

You can see my sample layout below:

And Jackie has also created a sample layout for you:

(Jackie's image is appearing really small and we can't figure out why but there's a large version of it on my blog and hers.

    Back shortly with Challenge #4...
