Spell checker

Okay, I realise that I may be spelling things incorrectly sometimes, but I think there is a US spell check on this site as every time I try to spell something the UK way it gives me an error. Given that it is UK scrappers, why would it have an American English spell check? Or is it my computer set up that needs changing
