New to the Scrapbook World
Hello,
My name is Sophie and I am beginning my first scrapbook from today! My mother has always been into crafts and has a scrapbook of her own so I know little bits and pieces. What I don't know is how to start or what I need (other than a book and some paper packs which I have) so am looking for some friendly scrappers to advise a 'newbie', please?
All advice, tips and helpful hints are gratefully received.

welcome to scrapbooking, once you get into it you'll be totally hooked. Watching utube is great but just looking through the gallery will give you loads of inspiration.
I have been scrapping for many years and find doing the weekly challenge a good way of making me do something different. Remember you can't do anything wrong and the best way to learn is just doing!
Good luck with your album and enjoy xx

Welcome to the fab world of scrapbooking
A good place you can start is the 'What is Scrapbooking?' link here on UKS and we also have a short What is Scrapbooking? section on our website just going over the basics.
Youtube is definitely a good place to go as you can get so much inspiration and tips in a short time. I also like looking at Scrappers blogs and the gallery here.
Once you have your papers, photos and embellishments just have a play around without sticking things down, try different combinations and see what you like then stick it all down! I remember getting far too happy with my glue in the beginning and then wishing I hadn't stuck anything down yet! Most of all have fun!

I think you would be best to look around blogs and the gallery on here for the style of LO's you like as most people list the products they used. That way you won't fall into the (very easy) trap of buying lots of stuff you don't need/won't use. Make a list of the items, eg the paper designs and any embellishments and go from there.
A basic item you will need is a paper trimmer of some sort too.

It can all seem very daunting when you are starting out and I would suggest the best way to get to know UKS is to join a team. There's a thread here of teams looking for members.
Good luck.
