Oh there you are! I thought it was quiet, then I discovered you'd all hopped off elsewhere without me.

Viv I use a Rowney or Royal Langnickel spiral bound journal with a white gesso cover - I like to decorate each one individually. The paper isn't all that good so I glue two pages together. I know Hobbycraft keep them, and some places have a black one.

I agree about not wanting to buy any more paint, but now I've seen a You Tube demo I'm definitely going to invest in those new Distress Paints, because I really like what they can do. The best part for me is not having a chalky finish which I HATE - it gives me the shivers!!

I started in a very cheap notebook but I have now moved on to a A5 spiral bound sketch book, it wasnt exensive and the pages hold the paint very well although I think if you wanted to use the ink sprays you would need to glue two pages together.

I am using an A4 sketch book spiral bound with the pages glued together for my Kate Crane Art Journal Calendar which I am really enjoying filling in every day

I will need to look out for the ones with the gesso covers

Oh and Rosie - I got one of the Uniball Signo white pens to try after your recommendation and I love it so I will be buying some more I am sure - it works just fab

So now folks recommendations for the best black pen - fairly fine - which will write on top of paints

One of my all time favourite journalling pens is the fineliner pen from Wilkinsons.
They are quite expensive as they only come in packs of 5 and will set you back
    99p.
They are a fine, felt tip type pen which usually works on anything

Suzy I use Pigma Micron pens which is archival ink and I've got it in 0.1mm and 0.4mm and I've also got Faber Castell Pitt Pens - honestly though I slightyl prefer the micron ones

Ooh 99p at Wilko... I could get a bank loan.... I may have a sneaky peak tomorrow morning whilst I'm in town.

Ahh crud, I've not filled my kate crane journal in for about a month Luckily I haven't deleted any texts to hubby for about the same time so it's a case of going back through them to see what I was up to May do that in bed in a bit!

I watched a Dina Wakely vid on Creative Jumpstart where she stamps an image on tissue paper, applies lots of mod podge to a page, slaps the image down then mod podges over the top - has anyone tried this? I've tried it this evening with two different white tissues - the thinner one worked best but not brilliantly - I still liked the effect though, it was transparent-ish but the tissue was not completely see through

Sian - have you been watching the Creative Jumpstarts every day? I only opened one or 2 and they didn't do much for me so just deleted the emails!! they are still in my deleted box though so if something was worth a watch I can just watch it before deleting them properly.

Oh and smug smiley .... I filled in all my January pages

I've watched them all. Some do nothing for me but others are really really inspirational. I think it is worth at least starting one to find out what they are showcasing and then turning it off if it is not for you

Not been watching the jumpstarts every day I've been putting them into a folder every time they come then I had a flick through them, watched about ten and if I wasn't inspired in the first minute I deleted it But I did enjoy the Dina wakeley one - I tried to enter a giveaway but it wouldn't let me post a comment so I just deleted all the giveaways

Went to Wilko and they didn't have a single white pen - fineliner or otherwise and there wasn't any pens for under £1.29 most were a few pounds they did have white tissue paper though - I'm trying different ones from different places see which works - this was the cheapest yet - 75p - fingers crossed!!!!!

Dina showed us this last year at afth. I love it - it's best to tear the tissue paper not cut it.I've also used the dylusions sprays around the edges applied with a paintbrush
Sometimes I print on the tissue paper (I use a glue stick to stick the edges of the tissue paper to a sheet of printer paper and it goes through th printer fine

Ohhh yes on the video it shows you her wetting a paintbrush with water, running it round the edge of the image then it tears out really easily so that's what I've been doing. I've done 5 transfers today for a page in my "raw emotion" art journal and they've all worked really well, I'm really pleased
