I'm just getting into this and am already completely HOOKED (my first effort is on my blog here . My inspiration was Kate Crane from The Kathryn Wheel, but I'd love to be in touch with other people exploring this too - am thinking of booking on a workshop in October run by Artist Trading Post. I also understand there's a magazine - is it from Stampington - and would be keen to buy a couple of back issues, just to see if I like it.

hello, silly busy woman popping in. I AM going to make time to play in my journals this week though.

While I'm here though, if anyone is stuck for starting points, Trish on the design team has done a tutorial on the blog this week for building up layers using stencils. She's done loads of nice clear step by step instructions and tips with lots of clear photo's. Thought some of you may be interested, especially if you are starting out. You can find the post here.

Right, off to of to do domestic stuff to ensure I get play time later in the week!

I would love to play in my art journal but the hand is a little sore, and with all this lovely white stuff that is falling that is causing my kiddies school to close I am not able to play... Kinda hoping the school will be open tomorrow but it's looking like day 4 of snow days for us....

    Book marking here too.
I finally got back into my craft room yesterday after months of absence due to illness, I have restricted time in there ATM but hopefully I can get to play for longer soon.
I have been lurking on the thread and kept up with you all.
Lovely to see all the work appearing from your design team Vicki.

I've been having issues with a cheap journal I bought, pages buckling under minimal mists etc. I redid 3 pages then gave in and bought Pink Pig watercolour paper journals, I couldn't decide which size to go for, so in true hoarder style, I bought one of each -8x8, A5 and A4, the quality of the paper is amazing, even better than the regular pink pig I have. I'll be trying them out sometime next week but I can't see the pages buckling under much at all, they're almost cardboard like in their strength.

And today I am finally brave enough to share my first few goes with you here. Its a steep learning curve mind!

Hi I've just restarted doing art journaling and have splashed out on dyan's spray ink (all of them - eek!), the full set of small stencils (double eek!), yet more stamps and dyan's art journal as the one I was using just let the inks sink in and not blend. Having great fun getting messy!

Sounds like you are going to have lots of fun Kirsty.
Viv, I just use a cheap Smith's spiral bound 7x5 watercolour pad which seems to hold colour well - but I am not an expert. Having done one page with lots of paint on which I then wrote on, I did notice that not all acrylic paints are equal for this and the ones that created the best surface are Fresco Finish. But I am trying to ignore that as I really don't need to be buying any more paints!
