If you're using embossing folders you don't need the rubber mat

If you are using Spellbinders dies you cut and then you can emboss them by taking off the thin die platform and using embossing foam on the cutting surface then either the cutting plate or an embossing plate.

If I am using Nestabilities I don't normally emboss again, as cutting them embosses too, but any more detailed die I emboss or you just don't get the effect.

My big shot doesn't have the usual platform, it has the solo platform with the solo shim, which are longer as far as I can make out.
So to use spellbinders I have to buy an embossing platform, an embossing rubber/foam mat and a wafer thin die adapter!
Crikey, going to have to spend a bit more aren't I.
Are all metal dies useable in the big shot?
Sorry about all these questions but I'm a bit all at sea at the moment.
I've cut the big heart shape die that came with the machine but they don't have the embossed edges which was kind of what I was after. Very nice but I can cut flat shapes with my Silhouette machine.
It's the elaborate lacy and embossed dies that I wanted to cut, you know things I can't do with the silhouette.
I really appreciate all this help.

How about a Gelli plate?? I've just tried using a home made gelatin plate to see if I'd like it & I'm just going to have to get one. use it for making your own backgrounds.

Try googling gelatin plates to inspire you with the possibilities.
