Technique Thursday with Cal: 18th Oct: Fun with Masking Tape

    Welcome to another Technique Thursday.

This week we are continuing to work with masking tape. It is soooo adaptable, and can be used for so many different things.

This week, we are using masking tape to mask different areas of our cards or scrapbook pages (mask the inside to create a fabby border), or on cards, where we can mask the outside of the card to create a fabulous background focal point.

    Scrapbooking Instructions:

    1. Using a pencil and ruler, mark out a 2" border around your 12x12 cardstock.

    2. Take some 10" strips of masking tape, and 'tap' the masking tape on your clothes to make it less sticky. You are creating a border, so the masking tape needs to be on the 'inside' of the cental square and the border (a 2" space around the ouside of the cardstock) needs to be blank.

    2. Using stampS and ink pads of your choice, create a stamped border - the masking tape will act as the mask.

    3. Once you are happy with the border that you have created, remove the masking tape carefully.

    Cardmakers

    1. Take 4 strips of masking tape that are longer than the width and length of your card base.

    2. 'Tap' yourself with the masking tape to make the tape less sticky.

    3. Create a border around the edge of the cardbase using the masking tape.

    4. Using a light coloured background stamp, stamp INSIDE the masking tape border.

    5. Remove the masking tape carefully.

    6. Now using a silhouette type stamp and darker inkpad, stamp over the light coloured background stamp.

    7. Add a sentiment and embellishments as required.
