June Simple Recipes - week 3 alternate layout

The thing I really like about Simple Recipes is that it is a loose guideline, and you can take from it what you want to fit your needs. I really wanted to use this set of sequential photos. The colours were mostly OK, although the green isn't a perfect match for the suggested cardstock (didn't have that one) and the blue just did not fit so I left it out. The buttons, and I have a LOT of buttons, fit well with the idea I wanted to pursue, and of course, the hidden elements.

I say often how much I really love the look of banners and yet I have never really made a layout that focused on them. OK, so these are more FLAGS than banners but it works for me - and such a great way to use up lots of little scraps of paper.

I swear I was thinking of this layout and in the middle of the night, the idea to add an envelope to the page to hold the series of photos woke me up

I smudged the white envelope with Antique Linen Distress ink to bring it more in line with the cream background cardstock, but making it slightly darker.

The little yellow circles from a sheet of glittered MME paper fit my punch PERFECTLY, and topped some of the buttons perfectly as well!

The flags are a mix of scraps and other embellishments like tickets, toppers, and journaling slips.

The photos show Maddie, quite absorbed in her writing, then twigging to the fact I was taking her photo.

The photos are numbered so they go back in in the right order. I printed grid paper on cream cardstock - this site lets you pick the colour of the grid - and added that to the back of the photos, for journaling. Not done yet

I was planning on using a camera cut from a piece of patterned paper - I know I HAVE one, but can't seem to find it at the moment - which would have satisfied another element of the recipe, but in the end used ne of my printable elements. It works well enough and I can swap it out when I find the paper.

I love the ColorBok sticky alphas. They are my GO TO yellow letters as they are just the perfect buttery shade, not too acid, not to orange. As the pack has nearly 400 letters (all 26, in 5 colours) I suspect they will appear over and over again.
