If you can, itís better to stand up at a table while doing this rather than sitting.

Stuff You Need (it must all be right at hand on the worktop):
    1. Non-pristine loose sheets of plain paper or cardstock (coloured is fine: whatever tatty old stuff you youíve got knocking around - donít choose, just grab something).
    2. A tray of assorted PP scraps, cut-out images, leftover borders, cut-out words etc. (Donít use your best stash - you need to feel thereís nothing to lose).
    3. Crayons, paints, glue, pens etc Ė all the usual (whatever youíve got)

    What to Do:
Work really fast (right from the start) on 3 sheets at the same time, painting, crayoning or collaging backgrounds, adding images, scraps and borders, using colour, scribbling, writing and doodling.

Do not allow yourself to think for more than a couple of seconds about anything. As soon as you catch yourself deliberating over a decision or slowing down, put that sheet down and move onto another one. Keep switching Ė donít get too focused on one sheet.

If you get Ďblank paper syndromeí and start hesitating before youíve even started a sheet, close your eyes and pick an item from your tray as a starting point. No cheating - the first thing you pick up goes on the page.

And thatís it! Really simpleÖ 3 sheets at the same time, really fast, without hesitating or deliberating. It sounds easy, but for those of us who arenít naturally spontaneous, itís actually quite difficult.

Give it a try Ė I find it really helpful, and I get a big creative buzz while Iím doing it.
THis sounds like a really good idea - must try it!

Actually I must just stop reading everything and get on with it!!

Thanks Sue - I hope so.

I hope you get something out of collecting together words + phrases for Wednesday's 'Action' prompt. It's definitely my favourite way of working at the moment.

Chell, that's brilliant, well done on taking the plunge!

Suzy/Suzie - I looked into this when I started it, for some reason it spellchecks with only 1 L, but according to most places on the web it's not even a real word

Thank you Julie, for a great prompt!
I spent all yesterday slicing up magazines and papers, much to my husband's delight - He's been trying to get me to throw things out for ages

I am so loving everything I've seen here - all so different and yet they all look great.

Having had some fun yesterday doing backgrounds and messing around with colour with the kids I've even managed to do a page. I loved the shopping prompt - I'm never sure how I feel about buying stuff other than necessities so it's a little ambiguous. I don't think it's up to the standard I'm seeing here but I keep telling myself there are no rules, there are no police!

Ironically, having done the shopping page I have to buy a correcting pen (great idea), a black pen (mine has run out) and some more paper! I now need to buy things to journal why I don't need to buy things.

Anyway, here's a pic of my page. I might put it up in the gallery if I can be bothered to resize it. Off to check the next prompt now.

And Leanie, thanks for reading socks. It made me laugh doing it as it brought back some wonderful memories - I'm glad it makes others smile too.

Morning all! It really is fun seeing what everyone is coming up with.

Usually there is at least one that I want to keep and finish, and often bits of others. Sometimes just an idea or an accidental paint effect which I like, so I'll make a note, or cut out the bit I like and stick it in the reference notebook I have for techniques/colour charts etc. The main result is that it helps you retrain your brain to work more freely/spontaneously generally (the rest of the time).

It also puts me in a creative, productive mood full of ideas, so I go on and do good, free-flowing work on other pages afterwards. Best to do it if you've a nice chunk of spare time afterwards to make the most of the momentum.

Nice bit of sunshine here today. I'm working on some cool black and silver journal covers, using embedded die cuts. They are looking good so far. Might get my pile of mags out too and cut out words for this week's prompt.

oooof - I go away for one weekend and this thread has grown a mile!

have just been back and read everything I missed

LOADS of fab work all around

Claudia - the idea of your "throw your inhibitions to the wind" exercise terrifies me - I'm a deliberater, it can take me days to finish one page. Perhaps because it scares me I should definitely give it a try.....

Me too, but I wanted to learn to loosen up a bit, because I was stuck in a rut of getting too focused on one idea or detail, and not having enough free-flowing creative ideas. I still take days to finish a page, but it's definitely helped me generally to think more freely, and take a few more risks.

Rebecca - your little drawing is very Quentin Blake-like she is fab !

Just going to have a proper read back, I have still only done one journalling page but it was before we got all the prompts, so I haven't actually done any for the 'official Art Journey' I have a great idea in my head for the packaging one ... let's see if it will be any good when I get it on paper
