I've had some lovely messages about my page - thank you everyone it's giving me the incentive to keep going! But today I'm off to London's Chinatown for the New Year celebrations - should be some great photo opportunities there!

Can't believe how quickly this thread moves and now we've rolled over. Read everyone comment and looked at everyone's art work. Left some loving where I can but can't join in with all the comments. Art journalling is a new adventure for me, I have never been able to draw and so have also said I cannot be an artist but have discovered that drawing doesn't need to be a skill to create art. Many of my friends are artists some of them professional, I have never felt the work I have done scrapbooking etc meets the artist title, but doing this art journal I feel a little bit of an artist!!
Here is my page for week 2, inspired by packing, called Sweet Trouble

I've managed to find time to finish up my first page for the Art Journey project - am really pleased with it!

It's here at my craft blog.

Edit: I've found the Art Journey gallery here on UKS and loaded it up there too - and you can see the step by step photos in my blog entry.

I am not a lover of pink, but to my sister it is the only colour worth looking at. I like the way you showed us how you created your page, nice work.

    Spontaneity Exercise

Here is the little exercise I mentioned before, which is good for encouraging free-flowing creativity and fearless spontaneity:

If you can, it’s better to stand up at a table while doing this rather than sitting.

Stuff You Need (it must all be right at hand on the worktop):
    1. Non-pristine loose sheets of plain paper or cardstock (coloured is fine: whatever tatty old stuff you you’ve got knocking around - don’t choose, just grab something).
    2. A tray of assorted PP scraps, cut-out images, leftover borders, cut-out words etc. (Don’t use your best stash - you need to feel there’s nothing to lose).
    3. Crayons, paints, glue, pens etc – all the usual (whatever you’ve got)

    What to Do:
Work really fast (right from the start) on 3 sheets at the same time, painting, crayoning or collaging backgrounds, adding images, scraps and borders, using colour, scribbling, writing and doodling.

Do not allow yourself to think for more than a couple of seconds about anything. As soon as you catch yourself deliberating over a decision or slowing down, put that sheet down and move onto another one. Keep switching – don’t get too focused on one sheet.

If you get ‘blank paper syndrome’ and start hesitating before you’ve even started a sheet, close your eyes and pick an item from your tray as a starting point. No cheating - the first thing you pick up goes on the page.

And that’s it! Really simple… 3 sheets at the same time, really fast, without hesitating or deliberating. It sounds easy, but for those of us who aren’t naturally spontaneous, it’s actually quite difficult.

Give it a try – I find it really helpful, and I get a big creative buzz while I’m doing it.
    Claudia
