Master of cut and paste!
How to make a paper star for Christmas tree?
Anyone know of a tutorial or instructions for making a paper star? I want to make one to go on the top of our tree, so it needs to be viewable from any direction.
Thanks.

I'll bet you could do two exactly the same and cut little tabs on a few of the point so you could join them to make a star that you can see as a full star from both sides. I know I've seen a better tutorial for this, perhaps with a template, and perhaps with units rather than a scored full star, but I can't find it. I'll keep looking....

That shows you how to fold and cut the already creased star from a square sheet of paper. Perhaps a 12 x 12 sheet of cardstock will be a goof size for a tree topper?

I love love love the wreath
This might be a bit big for a tree but I made this for Charmed Cards and Crafts and there is a template too

Thanks, MaryAnne. That's almost exactly what I was looking for! My poor humble little tree shall now have a star!

i looked for a star for years and not liked any that i'd seen, until one year my brother had a go at me: you call yourself a craft person!? honestly woman: go make one. about 10 minutes later i had cut up a cereal box and covered it in foil - a stop gap you see - a star for my tree, but without having to think too hard.
i still have it. and yes, every year it does look a bit more rubbish! hehehehe I look forward to making one of these so I have a proper "handmade" not "home-made" star... thanks for sharing!

Well, as I said, DD put her foot down and refuses to allow her angel on top of the tree (I think she was about 4 YO when I made it and is now 15, so I shouldn't be surprised!) so I had to make one of Dolly's yesterday. I scaled the template up so it fills an a4 sheet
I made it from black cardstock, covered with some pretty starry kraft and silver wrapping paper I got from Paperchase a couple of years ago. I added some glitter and Stickles and a big gem (DD is ALLLLL about the bling!) and added a bit of wire hot glued to the back so I could wire it to the tree top.
She gave it a big thumbs up!
Now it's just cooking, cooking, and more cooking....
