[QUOTE]I'm just getting into this and am already completely HOOKED (my first effort is on my blog here . My inspiration was Kate Crane from The Kathryn Wheel, but I'd love to be in touch with other people exploring this too - am thinking of booking on a workshop in October run by Artist Trading Post. I also understand there's a magazine - is it from Stampington - and would be keen to buy a couple of back issues, just to see if I like it.

Yeah, when we get gassing there's no stopping us! I spent a happy afternoon yesterday working on the covers of what will be my 3rd journal (no.2 is getting quite full). So far they are all quite different, and I'm adding a label to the spine and numbering them .... I rather like the idea of being able to pull out a particular one that relates to a time frame. I don't actually do entries in order, but each one broadly covers a period of months, and I've completely given up working in my A4 journal as the A5 format seems perfect for me. What do the rest of you do?

I work on so many journals at once I couldn't be that organised Rosie. I just pick up which ever one takes my fancy at the time as they are all sizes.

Rolled again.... this is probably my favourite place on UKS! But....erm, please... Rosie, can you edit the first message to reduce the size?

    Thanks.

I bought a new journal yesterday - came across a lovely leather-covered one in TK Maxx. I kind of feel like I need to finish one journal before starting the next one though - don't know why really - so I will carry on working in my current one and fill that before I start the next one.

I only have two - my public journal (the one I share on my blog, which I haven't done anything in in weeks) which is a biddy passport sized moleskine, and my private journal which is a bigger moleskine.

Oh - I'm lying - I also have my holiday /day trip journal.

None of them are anywhere near all finished, so I haven't had to think about how to number / date / organise them just yet

In case it got lost in the thread rollover, I was wondering if anyone else is doing the Sketchbook Project this year?

Sketchbook project - nope. I think it's an amazing idea though. Good luck with it!

I had a couple of friends doing it last year, but this year nobody I know seems to be playing - hoped maybe there might be some on here - it's lonely work on your own

I get that. It's certainly something I'd consider doing but being absolutely honest with myself I just don't have the time to take part. I'm impressed with myself that I've stuck to my promise of not joining in anything this year. It's May and so far so good.

if I didn't "join in" things, I'd never do anything - I am notoriously lacking in motivation to do things just for me - I need deadlines and accountability - so that I can't choose the easy option of watching TV or sleeping instead of creating

Plus if I only do things to give away, it saves having to figure out where to store stuff, win win

I replied just before we rolled... I'd not heard of the project before but it looks really interesting and I may well have a go.

I've put a new journal page up on my blog.

First part - nah. Had enough of deadlines and accountability - I stopped working. Well, not because of that but because I was fool enough to have kids, but that just a different accountability.

Second point - that's a damn good point. I don't make stuff because of having no where to store it!

that's really interesting, hadn't thought of it that way - I have ALWAYS worked - up until 2 weeks before each pregnancy and then back at work full time by the time each of the kiddies were 3 months old (I had no choice, I was the only person earning)

I had a Saturday job and a weekday evening paper round from the age of 14, I worked all through Uni (part time in term, full time throughout all the holidays) as I had no grant but no contribution from my parents either.

then I had almost a year off a few years back when I was made redundant - at 40 years of age never having had any free time ever - and I was UTTERLY lost - in fact I had a bit of a breakdown of sorts

I think I just don't know HOW to operate WITHOUT deadlines and accountability!

eek - doesn't bode well for my retirement, I'll have to spend half my pension employing someone to tell me what to do

Oops - sorry - have gone a bit off topic

Alipeeps - do tell me if you decide to go for it, and what theme you pick (mine is "Along The Line")
