I have made a shelf card using the template posted by Lucille (I think it was) - it is not perfect, but I need to get better at Studio to do exactly what I want to do with it.

That's lovely Steve - what vinyl did you use for the template - I seem to remember discussion about the rolls you can get to cover shelves or books?

Brilliant!! Steve, Well done... Did you turn the Ash yourself on a lathe as well??? The stencil you have created just sets the grain of the wood off perfectly! Very tactile
The reason Im asking if you turned the wood yourself is because I also have a lathe... as well as my beloved craft robo... So nice to see the two crafts combined!!

Thanks for the nice comments guys, appreciated
Pitarolle I used the shelf lining vinyl from my local B&Q something called D-C-fix? I`m still not sure when to use the carrier sheet or not yet but I dare say that comes with practice. It did need a bit of cutting and masking as a 2d stencil is a bit fiddly to fit to a 3d object

Tazzy Yes I made the bowl some time ago (see attachment), I pyro`d a pattern on top of the grain but I got bored with the design so put it back on the lathe and reshaped it to take the stencil. The grain is maybe a bit too strong for the design but its the plainest bit of wood I had!

    Regards
    Steve

    Hi Steve

    That's the B&Q vinyl I use.
I have yet to cut a piece of vinyl without attaching it too a carrier mat, what I usually do is cut the amount of vinyl I need; and then attach it to the mat by exposing a trangle of the sticky vinyl on each corner and pressing down onto the mat.

I have attached a picture of the settings I personally use that work for me every time using this particular B&Q vinyl.
