Try it you have nothing to loose. I downloaded it and set it as my default browser used it until I figured out how it worked with add-ons etc and decided it did everything I wanted it to do, then I ditched Chrome completely.

How strange as it definitely works for me in Chrome - I've just checked again. I only use Chrome on my Netbook as it seems to load faster but for the PC I always use Firefox which I much prefer. Hope you can get sorted Grace.

I've now downloaded Firefox and tried UKS on it and that has sorted it, so now all I have to do is get DH to accept it.
So once again for all your help.

I don't know whether you persuaded DH to keep Firefox but if he needs more persuading then go to Tolls\Add-ons and then download one called Ad-Block Plus. I added a subscription to that called Fanboy's List and that keeps all adverts away.

Nothing will make me go to a browser that has ads again.

    PeerBlock

I'm always on the look out for a good freebie, so when I saw one called PeerBlock I thought I would give it a whirl and see what it was all about.

I don't know how many of you get the Dover publications newsletter with the link to sample clipart, since it was discussed here a few years ago, but I do and I've noticed that every time I go there PeerBlocker goes into action. I got a newsletter yesterday, clicked the link to see what was on offer and this is what PeerBlock has stopped since and it is still blocking today, but only about half as many attempts.

The reason I blame Dover or going to the Dover site is because I've noticed that every time I go there this happens, after a couple of days nothing tries to get through and it all dies down, until the next newsletter.

Thumbs down Help me please .........virus

Oh no, I can't believe it, I've seem to have picked up xp security 2011 trojon, but I now can't get on to the internet to download whatever it is I need to get rid of it, I am using hubbys lappy to do this.
I was trying to tidy up my pc by downloading stuff to photobucket, and now it looks like I might loose everything, as I don't have much in the way of backup, I have some but not the most recent photos etc.
So does anyone know how I can do it without a complete format

Doreen, you obviously didn't cross your toes as well, because it has only sort of worked.
To explain........the trojan has stopped popping up as if it is scanning and showing security alerts, but I cannot get my McAfee to stay on, it is like something keeps switching it off, I switch it on, it goes off, get my drift....
So it looks like I will have to format it, but, first I will have to back up what stuff I can, as I don't automatically do it, some stuff yes, but not all.
Very disappointed in photobucket, as I was transferring some photos to there to free up some space, and this is what happened, what a bummer.
I hope I can save the last 2 overlays I made, I was rather pleased with them.
I'll let you know how I get on, of all weeks for this to happen, appointments with hair dresser and back surgeon, so lets hope it doesn't take me too long to get it fixed.
thanks for your help so far Doreen. xx

Oh Grace what a shame. I hope you can save all that you need to save. Before you format it would reinstalling McAffee make any difference?

well, the thing is Doreen, with no security, I took out my internet connection, as I thought I may still have the trojan lurking, so I think I would rather wipe it clean, just to be sure.
So I'm away to make a start on it, so I at least get some done before I go to get my hair done,(long over due), more grey just now than nice colour lol.
