    daylight lamp

Im starting on my christmas list and was wondering if it was worth getting a daylight lamp? I craft under the stairs so is dark at the best of times, lol. DO they make much difference to a normal desk lamp? If so whats a good, reasonably cheap one? Thanks for any help!

Yu could just buy any table lamp or angle lamp Gemma and just buy a daylight bulb...a lot cheaper that the " proper " ones but does the same thing IMO. You can buy daylight bulbs anywhere that sell light bulbs, I get mine from the local sewing shop.

I got some bayonet (but they did have screw-fittings) ones from Hobbycraft, reduced from about £7 to £2.50ish (everyone's having to sell off old filament bulbs now )

If you are really after a daylight craft light I got one for £20 in Home Sense. Really impressed with it.

I've just got daylight bulbs in normal angle poise lamp, but I would dearly love one with a magnifying glass - getting old is a drag!

I got 2 off the internet about 18 months ago. They cost something like £11 each -(cheaper for two) I have one in my craft /computer room in the main light and its really good.
They are not only energy saving, they give a really pure light which is great when you are working with colour - and also are good for combatting SAD (seasonally affected disorder) I hate dark winter days and I think these really do help.
I remember Googling for BIO bulb .... definitely worth having!
I saw one once in a sewing shop but that bulb was actually blue in colour. The BIO bulbs look quite ordinary, and you can get them in bayonet and eddison screw fittings.

That's what I did. The daylight bulbs are great. I first started using one when I did cross stitch, now it's over my computer/cropping desk.

I love my daylight lamp which I got from C & H Fabrics )hope it's ok to post that?) and I couldn't live without it now. I've had nearly a year and I 'm going to get a new bulb just in case as I really can't see as well without it. Mine is tall and slim and open upwards and the light shines down over your work if that makes sense. It wasn't cheap but it was money well spent.
