Sorry Ive been MIA - Ive been up to my eyes prepping before I leave tomorrow.

Do you think its OK to paint whilst on the plane??
My Hubs said I was bonkers when I told him I was going to use my pastels/paints etc on the plane!

    What do you think??

I think its fine to paint on a plane, they can be boring places to be! So who is going to be art journalling in the strangest place? Only managed the dining room table so far lol.

    more templates

JaneH - glad you enjoyed the 30 days blog - I love looking at other peoples work and getting ideas.
Tracie - I would be wooried about getting paint on me and everyone else - as I am a messy painter! I have taken journalling pens and crayons and written whilst on a train which was quite therapeutic.

Just to add to what Bernie said - Craft obsessions (sponsor) have quite a range here http://www.craftobsessions.co.uk/cra...kshop_2329.php

I bought the star shower one. and quite fancy the sunburst!

So how would you use the templates - stipple paint through them or what? It's not something I've really used before, although I think there might be one or two lurking unloved at the bottom of my cupboard, which is why I'm asking

Personally I wouldn't try taking paint on a plane, I'd have prepainted pages then take my pencils/crayons and a brush. You never jnow if they'd end up taking them off you, unless you don't declare them in your liquids. Could be dodgy ground.

I stipple and use spray inks through mine.

    Hi Ladies

Just caught up on thread but didn't dare to visit links yet or I'll be here all day!

Juliwan - backgrounds. For painted backgrounds I often do a light-coloured wash, then darker highlights, and then have a go at some kind of effect on top (stencils, masks, scribbles, spatter..) I would consider that the background. Then I would add one or more collaged images as focal points and then maybe some more paint, maybe stamping, doodling, scribbling, and journalling to finish.

Other backgrounds I like: plain watercolour backgrounds in very bright colours (then black and white photos on top); Totally collaged backgrounds using PPs; big printed whole-spread images (like Venice); Distress inks washed over book pages. Oh, I also like to do some wording on the background - usually stencilled.

At the moment I have about 20 backgrounds which I don't yet know what to do with! I also have other pages at various stages of completion, awaiting further inspiration! I tend to start pages without finishing previous ones.

Vicki - books. If you don't already have it, '1000 Art Journal Pages' is a great book - endless inspiration in lots of different styles. No blurb - just pictures.

I tried to paint my fingernails on the plane and they made me stop. Just FYI. You'd probably be fine with any kind of dry media, like pastels, chalks, ProMarkers, etc.

I did an oopsie.... got an email from a non-sponsor vendor saying they had 'new' magazines: Art Journaling, etc. so I ordered it. Then realised I already HAVE the Summer 2010!! So I have a brand new copy for sale if anyone is interested. This is the Stampington/Somerset publication, and it's absolutely fab. If anyone is interested, I'll sell it for what I paid, plus postage, when I get it.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks.

I've just blogged my latest pages on my 'other' blog here: http://thecopyandpasteproject.blogsp...ford-sons.html

It's a page in a book I've made for myself from brown paper which came as packing material in a delivery months ago ... and I couldn't bear to throw away! The 'bits and pieces' on it are all items which have been pinned to my inspiration board and lingering around in scrap boxes or in little tins. [You know where you know you should tidy up and sort out properly .. but end up just hiding them away .. it's not just me who does that is it? ].

anyway I decided to put them all in one box and, when I come to journal, I use mainly only the items from there. With a ton of paint / ink / glazes etc .... It's been great fun so far and I get to feel wholesome as I'm using things up!

Find me on my blog: Notes on Paper; on Twitter: @notesonpaper and here on Pinterest.

Hope you have a lovely time away Tracie.

I'm still lacking motivation/inspiration so I went into town today and bought a couple of really cheap books of photographs to use for collage - I'm hoping that some cool new images might end my little block.

Thanks. Holding it is no problem for me, except that we're on holiday from 17th until the 24th , so is that a problem for you? It's a great issue - if you want to have a peek, look here.
