Handprints
Sometimes you get discouraged
Because I am so small,
And always leave my fingerprints
On furniture and walls.
But every day I’m growing,
I’ll be all grown up someday,
And all these tiny handprints
Will simply fade away.
So here’s a special handprint
Just so you can recall,

Mother’s Day Handprints
My dirty little handprint
I’ve left on every wall
And on the drawers and tabletops
I’ve really marked them all
But here is one that won’t rub off
I’m giving it to you
Because I am so thankful
For a mother just like you!

Handprints
Sticky hands and fingers,
Marks left on the wall,
Doors left swinging open,
Muddy footprints in the hall.

Children leave their traces,
Never thinking twice
That Mom and Dad must clean up
With bleach and paint and ice.

It’s often cause for heartache
When Mom’s left with the task,
But sons and daughters sometimes
Just forget to ask.

But how we miss those clean-ups
When the hallways clear,
And we’re left with only mem’ries
Of the sticky handprints dear.

Today, upon my garden walk,
Where fresh cement was laid,
You pressed your little heels and toes
And barefoot prints were made.

Beside this funny pair of feet,
With small and sturdy hand,
You wrote your own initials as
You write them in the sand.

Though you’ll be growing up, my dear,
And leaving me someday,
These little footprints on the walk
Will never run away.

When I am Big
When I’m big you won’t remember
the mud I tracked on stairs.
Instead I hope that you will hear
my laugh that eased your cares.
