This was an exciting project for me and I sweat buckets over it. So, heres mine. I hope everyone is winning with their decorating - I stalled many a time but it was worth it I think just to see the finished product.
Watching this thread with interest as i only managed to purchase mine yesterday and now feeling a bit daunted.
Where to start
Yours is beautiful, well done
If it is any help I proceeded to sand mine as advised in one of the other posts. I stopped sanding to test whether the original paint would show through if I just painted over it. Low and behold a £1, dulux tester pot was covering it no problem. The sadning was taking a whole load of time up.
Start by choosing your paint to cover it then decorate your roof.
I used rasberry bellini and satin bow by dulux. Great colours for a little girl. Im just in the middle of completing my second advent house. This one is for a little boy so I have used melon sorbet and first dawn colours also by dulux.
I hope this gives you something to go by just to get you started off. I was the same as you when I first started out but once I hade the paint and roof done it gave me an insight in to how I would vandalise it completely with my embellishments.
wow - that is beautiful it must have taken so long to do ...
I would love to have the time to do one of these for my children ( but would not have the time to make 3 - 1 for each of them! )
Wow thats fab!!!!! Mine is nearly done, just doing the last few bits & have run out of glossy accents ( using on the numbers) trip to The Range for me tomorrow
The photos are Fab! but to see it in real life it's even MORE fab!! You could honestly stand and look at it for hours - there is so much detail in it!! I'm her mum.
Haven't started mine yet - and now that I've seen Linda's I reckon it will put mine to shame!!
Pearl, where did you get the little gingerbread men & snowmen etc from? I've been looking all over for something siliar but no luck ( the little gingerbread menn)
