    old photo's

    Morning everyone...

Yuk!!!!! we have the grey sky's this morning, although they do say it is meant to be a nice day, fingers crossed...
I have a poorly little girl with me today, so she is missing all the red nose day fun, not happy....but we are set to do some crafting, before i start, does anyone know how to make photo's look old, i brought some distress inks, but not sure how to do it... i want to do a scrap book of my great grand parents...
    Any ideas???????

Hugs Angel, and my poorly Deanna, who is plonked on my lap watching me type this...loll...

I suppose it depends on which colours you bought. I've used Distress inks to age photos by swiping the pad around the edges and even across the actual photo. But I was using 'Old Paper' which is quite subtle.

I know some people apply it with a special foam - but I diodn't have any. I experimented using a normal pencil eraser - pressing it onto the pad, picking up the ink, then tranferring it onto the photo.

Maybe try experimenting on a spare copy first.

Enjoy your crafty day - even without the sunshine

Another way if you scan and copy your photo first is to sand the edges to make them look worn. I don't use any fancy tools just a nail file or one of those nail buffers. Good for when you want a new glossy photo to look like an old copy.

Hope Deanna feels better soon and the sun comes out

I often splodge a wet teabag onto new prints of old photos to make them look...well...less new. Sanding the edges is a fantastic look, you bet! I have put a crease in photos, have bent and torn corners, have generally abused the prints so they take on a more aged appearance. Have fun!

Look on Tim Holtz website, great demo using distressing inks where he uses a Photo.
